Peapods: The annual sidewalk sale is June 26 and 27 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.  The store brings out ‘scratch-and-dent’ merchandise and discounts it 25-75% off. The store does not accept checks. 251 Snelling Ave. South., St. Paul. 651-695-5559

A fairly large sample sale (about 8 different showrooms) with women’s spring/summer clothing is in progress today (Tuesday May 12) and and tomorrow from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. The prices are low–almost everything is less than $25 and many items only $5 or so, but don’t go expecting high-end designers. It’s moderately-priced sportwear and accessories. The sale is at the Hyatt Hotel (1300 Nicollet Mall, Minneapolis, 612-333-5219) on the 3rd floor of the Merchandise Mart. Cash and checks are accepted.

If you can’t get there until Wednesday, not to worry. This has never been a well-attended event. It’s not that the deals are bad. It’s just that too many women go expecting to find a lot of name brands and this isn’t that type of sale. If you go, let us know your thoughts. I hope that I have described it accurately.

The spring-summer Sample It sale (Days Inn, 7851 Normandale Blvd., Bloomington, 612-377-6981) begins tomorrow (Tuesday, April 28). Take an additional 25 percent off the spring-summer merchandise for the entire family. Popular items include boardshorts ($20 to $30), T-shirts ($9 to $12), junior sundresses ($15 to $22) and flip flops ($5 to $10). Brands include Billabong, Volcom, Quiksilver, Hurley and Nick & Mo. Purses, accessories, backpacks, hats and women’s boutique items will also be for sale at wholesale prices or less. The sale runs from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday. Everything will be an additional 25 percent off Thursday.
