Last-minute getaways sparse on the holiday weekend

I’ve seen better — but then again, I’ve seen worse.
There’s not much out there for pickin’s for last-minute airfares this weekend. But the airlines rarely offer last-minute specials on holiday weekends, as they’ve determined most of us already have our travel plans booked.
In other words, there aren’t a lot of spare seats to go around.
Except, well, to Cincinnati, I guess.
Delta Airlines is offering a last-minute getaway flight to Cinci for just $178 this weekend — following the usual rules. (Fly out Saturday; return Monday or Tuesday, etc.)
As is pretty much the case, Cinci is celebrating the Fourth of July like the rest of us so there’s not much going on that I could find on short notice. Maybe a concert with the band 311.
Of course, it’s hard to tell what passes for entertainment in Cincinnati. If you’re really, really — and I mean, really — bored and you have some Internet time to kill, you can see how they entertain themselves there while covering traffic. Just three words:
Beyond this weekend, check out the specials from United Airlines, that include tickets to Bloomington, Ill. ($160), Vail, Colo. ($228) and Charleston, S.C. ($270).
