Online deals from Colorado to Iceland

Who wants to go to Aspen, Colo., for $220 roundtrip?
Hopefully a few of us from the Twin Cities, because that’s one of the many deals offered this week by United Airlines in their last-minute airfare deals out of MSP.
Nearly two dozen cities are on the last-minute special list, from Allentown, Penn. ($242) to Oakland, Calif. ($284). Check all the deals out at United Airlines here:

Likewise, Delta Airlines is offering a last-minute deal out of the Twin Cities to Cincinnati for just $138.

So last week the Los Angeles Times wrote that “Suddenly, Iceland is affordable for Americans,” noting that since the collapse of Iceland’s economy the country was suddenly hot.
This week a friend mentioned to me she was thinking of traveling there now, because she’d always wanted to go. (We were cross country skiing at the time, and she’s Norwegian, so I guess fear of the cold isn’t a factor).
Actually Iceland has always been somewhat affordable if you’ve watched the sale fares from IcelandAir.
That’s how I got four years ago. Minneapolis is one of four U.S. hubs for the carrier, and so the airline often features sale fares departing out of here.
I’d always wanted to see Norway, so I booked my trip on Iceland Air via Reykjavik, where I spent an extra day.
In short, the trip was fantastic, both in terms of the destinations (Reykjavik, Oslo, and Amsterdam thrown in for good measure), as well as flying on IcelandAir.
I checked this week for any specials out of the Twin Cities, but I could only find deals flying out of Boston and New York. (Orlando and Minneapolis are the two other cities serviced by IcelandAir.)
Don’t let that damper your enthusiasm. Sign up for the airline’s newsletter and keep an eye out for specials. I’ll do my best to mention them when I see them as well.

There are no deals out of the Twin Cities on Icelandair at this time because there is no service on that carrier out of MSP during the winter months.
