The Gophers men’s hockey team dropped out of the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine’s top 15 national rankings. Minnesota is the top “others” team with 41 points.

They are still No. 14 — down one spot — in the USCHO.com/CSTV national rankings. Minnesota tied Michigan State 3-3 and lost to Michigan 5-1 last weekend, two highly rated teams.

The top five in both national polls is identical:

1. Miami (Ohio), 13-1; 2. Michigan, 13-1; 3. Denver, 9-3; 4. Colorado College, 7-4, and 5. Michigan State, 8-3-2.

The Gophers have played four of those teams and are 1-5-1 against them. The victory was 4-3 over Michigan early.

GOPHERS WOMEN’S TEAM 6TH

The U of M women’s hockey team is No. 6 in the USCHO.com/CSTV rankings this week. Ahead of them are New Hampshire, Harvard, UMD, Wisconsin and St. Lawrence.
