U hockey: Where’s that ex-Gopher?
Posted on November 27th, 2007 – 9:57 PMBy Roman Augustoviz
It’s been almost a month since I wrote about ex-Gophers. But the e-mails and phone calls and letters keep coming. So I will relent and find another one for you.
This is the fourth in a series of “Where’s that ex-Gophers?” mini-features. I will try to do one each week. (I am three weeks behind.)
We’ve found Alex Goligoski, Larry Olimb and Gino Guyer in the first three. This week’s victim, scratch that, make it subject is Dave Snuggerud.
He played left wing for the Gophers in the late 1980s and, in 126 games, had 73 goals, 67 assists for 140 points. He was the team co-captain during the 1988-89 season with Todd Richards.
These days, he is a sixth-grade teacher in the Wayzata school district, is married to Ann, and they have four children ages 10, 8, 5 and 3.
In the evenings, he works for Breakway Hockey, which trains young hockey players. He uses a 14-foot x 14-foot skating platform and then the players can skate on the rink in the same facility.
His wife, Ann, who runs marathons, got Dave involved in becoming a trainer. He is also coaching his oldest son’s squirt hockey team.
What other ex-Gophers should I try to find? The request list already includes Adam Hauser, Dan Hendrickson, Lance Pitlick, Grant Potulny, Andy Sertich.
