U hockey: Michigan Tech worries Lucia

Gophers coach Don Lucia, whose team plays Michigan Tech this weekend, said the Huskies’ recent struggles are deceiving.
“They have had some injurt bugs,” Lucia said. “When they got swept at home by St. Cloud State [three weekends ago], Teslak wrenched his back and didn’t play.”
Teslak is goalie Michael-Lee Teslak who has a 1.63 goals-against average.
“He was back two weeks ago in Duluth,” Lucia said, “and it was a typical Tech kind of weekend. They tied 1-1 the first night. It was 4-1 Duluth the second night but two of the [Bulldogs’] goals were empty-netters.
“So for us [against Tech], I think our penalty killing is going to be important and trying to play with the lead is important because he is as good a goalie as there is in college hockey. And they are a very good defensive team and they are a little bit better on specialties than they have been.
“They are a team that just missed out on the NCAA a year ago and I’m sure they feel they are good enough to get there this year.”
