Junior Jeff Frazee is a pretty savvy goalie. After Michigan Tech appeared to score an early goal on Saturday, he mentioned to an official that a Huskies player may have been in the crease.

“I mentioned something to the ref after [the Huskies player] bumped me,” Frazee said. “I was pretty deep in the net I thought. It worked out in our favor. It was a tough call.”

Frazee won the challenge. Officials looked at replays and waved off the goal. And 40 second later, Mike Howe scored for Minnesota.

“It was a huge momentum swing,” Frazee said. “We played unbelievable [Saturday]. We played a full 60 minutes and we played the body really well for the whole 60. Hopefully we will seethat in North Dakota. That is always one of the best places to play. It’s a lot of fun and the fans are crazy.”

Frazee said the Gophers did not want to give up a third period lead on Saturday like they did the night before in a 3-2 overtime loss to the Huskies. “We weren’t going to let that happen again,” he said. “We knew how we wanted to go out and play and we did. When you give up two shots in the third period, and they were not even that great of chances. We played unbelievable in the third.”

Frazee said two Tech shots hit him in the facemask. Each came with such force, they unbuckled his helmetboth times. A puck also hit him in the collarbone and he said that shot hurt him the most.

He said Saturday’s game was one of the Gophers’ best games all season. “We played a full 60 minutes and we can not say that too many times,” Frazee said.
