Don Lucia got some good news this week. Zach Budish will be a Gopher someday soon. Maybe the fall of 2009, maybe 2010.

The juniorwill give the U a little muscle. He is 6-3, 210 and plays linebacker. Kim Nelson, his football coach, said he could play Division I football if he wanted.

He doesn’t. He is also a leader. He talked several of his hockey playing buddies into joining the football team and the Hornets had a great year until running into a wall named Eden Prairie.

Any thoughts on what kind of college player Budish will be?
