I never waited for Godot, but I was waiting to talk to Blake Wheeler on Wednesday in the bowels of Mariucci Arena. And there, sitting on a bench were Ben Gordon of the Gophers hockey team and two Gophers women’s hockey players, Erica McKenzie and Gigi Marvin.

So what do men and women hockey players talk about when they are in the same place. Glad you asked? I couldn’t help but overhear. They talked hockey. Surprise, surprise.

Favorite places to play — Wisconsin got high marks. North Dakota, too. Where do you go to eat after road games? Do you get to eat what you want? Who has the best visiting locker rooms?

Enlightening. But I was not taking notes and have a short memory. And providing more details here does not seem appropo in this case.

Suffice it to say, hockey was on their minds.
