U men’s hockey: Rookies to get international taste

Three incoming freshmen are going to play for the U.S. team in the under-18 International Ice Hockey Federation World Championships from April 13-23 in Kazan, Russia.

Twenty of 22 players going are in the national development program in Ann Arbor, Mich. One of the two who isn’t is Roseau High School defensemen Aaron Ness. Also competing for the U.S. team are defenseman Sam Lofquist and forward Jordan Schroeder. Those two have already signed with the U. Ness has not but is expected to.

Ness is listed at 5-10, 170. He turns 18 on May 18. Lofquist is bigger at 6-1, 181. He turned 18 on March 15.

Schroeder is 5-9, 178. He is the youngest of the three. He turns 18 on Sept. 29. Schroeder played in the same event last year.
