U men’s hockey: Fairchild measures up to INCH’s standards

Gophers freshman defenseman Cade Fairchild made the INCH Rookie All-America team. INCH stands for Inside College Hockey which has a web site covering that sport.
Other freshmen on the INCH Rookie All-America team are Colorado College goalie Richard Bachman, named the Rookie of the Year, defenseman Jeff Petry of Michigan State, and forwards Garrett Roe of St. Cloud State, Joe Whitney of Boston College and Carter Camper of Miami.
I saw all of those players except Petry. Whitney left a lasting impression when he dove and backhanded a puck into the net in overtime in the Northeast Regional final against Miami. He has 40 assists. Unbelievable.
Bachman was a rock in the nets for CC most of the season. Roe scored four goals in two regular-season games against the Gophers.
Fairchild played his best hockey for the U before he left for Europe and the World Juniors. I’m sure coach Don Lucia is expected big things from him next season.
Don’t remember much about Carter Camper. I was looking for his teammate, Ryan Jones, most of the time when I watched the RedHawks.
INCH also handed out a few other awards earlier:
Coach of the Year: Guy Gadowsky, Princeton
Goalie of the Year: Jean-Philippe Lamoureux, North Dakota
Defenseman of the Year: Mark Mitera, Michigan.
