You have to wonder if Eric Rud, a St. Cloud State assistant the past three seasons, will be on Don Lucia’s list of prospective candidates to replace Mike Guentzel.

Rud played for Lucia at Colorado College before he took the Gophers job nine years ago.

Rud was a two-time WCHA Defensive Player of the Year. And what position did Guentzel coach at the U? The defensemen, so Rud could step right in.

Sounds like a possible fit to me. Oh, and Rud is from Inver Grove Heights. He played for Simley High.

Rud was an assistant coach at CC before he took the St. Cloud State job.

BADGER-WATCHING

Mike Eaves has named junior forward Ben Street and sophomore forward Blake Geoffrion his co-captains for next season. There won’t be any assistant captains.

Senior D Davis Drewiske of Hudson, Wis., was named the Badgers’  MVP for this past season.
