Rodney Williams is a Gopher

I just received this text message from Robbinsdale Cooper forward Rodney Williams’ mother: “The deal is done. He is a Gopher.”
Williams visited Santa Clara over the weekend and was expected to make a decision when he returned today or Monday. Williams becomes the third member of Tubby Smith’s second recruiting class, which includes California point guard Justin Cobbs and Hopkins forward Royce White.

Probably not top 5, but it may be in the top 10 in recruiting rankings. Both Rodney and Royce are top 50 recruits nationally. Nice job landing the most talented players MN has to offer Tubby! We are definitely getting more athletic, which was much needed to compete in the Big Ten.
It’s nice to get some local boys for this class… I cannot wait for these kids to grow up at take the hoops program to the next level.
Tubby’s reputation and integrity have gone a long way in the recruiting cred for Gopher basketball. Now if we can sign a big guy in the spring signing period, we are ready to go.
