U women’s puck: Home at last

The U of M women’s hockey team, which moved up to No. 1 in the national ratings this week, will play at home for the first time since Nov. 28-29. Bemidji State will be the opponent at Ridder Arena. Friday’s game will be at 6:07 p.m., Saturday’s game at 4:07 p.m.

The Gophers play nine of their last 12 regular-season games at home. One of the biggest series will be next weekend when defending NCAA champion Minnesota-Duluth visits. 

MSU HIRES INTERIM COACHES

Paul Willett and Mandy Krause-Rideout will be the  interim co-head coaches for the Minnesota State Mankato women’s hockey program for the rest this season.

Willett coached the Mound Westonka High School boys’ hockey team from 2004-2008. He is in his first season with the MSU women’s hockey program. Krause-Rideout, a former Maverick player and a former head coach of the Fergus Falls High School girls’ hockey team, is in her third season on the Mavericks coaching staff.

The Mavericks are 6-12-2 overall, 3-11-2 in the WCHA.

MSU will search for a permanent head coach this spring.
