Junior Ryan lasch is the Hockey Commissioners’ Association National Player of the Month in Division I hockey.

He had eight goals and 14 points in eight games. The Huskies were 4-3-1 in those games. His best game, pointwise, was when he had a hat trick and an assist in an 8-6 loss to Minnesota in St. Cloud on Jan. 17. That was the last game the Gophers won before their current four-game losing streak.

Lasch, who is from Lake Forest, Calif., had points in seven of the Huskies’ eight games in January and was a plus-six for the month.

The National Rookie of the Month was freshman forward Jason Gregoire of North Dakota. He had six goals and 10 points in 10 games during which the Fighting Sioux were 7-1-2.

Gregoire tied a career high with three points in North Dakota’s 6-3 victory over the Gophers on Jan. 9. He had two goals, including the game-winner that night.

With six more games left in February, maybe the Gophers can win some monthly awards rather than be torched by award winners.
