GOLDEN GOLDYS TONIGHT
The U of M will honor some of its best athletes tonight at the Golden Goldys at the Radisson University. Its an event modeled after the ESPYs on TV.
Athletes will be selected male and female athletes of the year, rookies of the year, breakthrough players of the year. Ali Lucia, a news anchor for FOX47 in Rochester, Minn., and Don Lucia’s daughter, will be the master of ceremonies.
So the Don will probably be there as well as some of his players. Freshman center Jordan Schroeder probably has a shot at rookie or breakthrough player of the year, maybe both if one athlete can sweep them. Freshman wing Monique Lamoureux, on the women’s side, is also a serious threat to win one or the other of those awards.
