Former Gophers guard Emily Fox will continue her basketball career overseas. She has signed to play for a team in Athens. Fox was a late cut of the Lynx in the team’s preseason camp.

Here is the U of M news release on Fox::

Minnesota graduate Emily Fox will continue her basketball career in Greece, signing a professional contract to play with the Esperides Club in Athens. Fox will travel to Greece in September for the eight-month season. She will be joined on the club by a familiar Big Ten name – former Purdue standout Lindsey Wisdom-Hylton.

“I am so excited for the opportunity to continue my basketball career, and what more beautiful place to do it in than Greece!” said Fox. “I am not exactly sure what to expect, but I am going to make the most of this overseas experience. Getting to play with Lindsey Wisdom-Hilton will be a blast, and the opportunity to live in Athens is surreal to me. It has always been my dream to play professional basketball and I am so thankful for this exciting opportunity!”

Fox finished her Golden Gopher career ranked seventh on the Minnesota all-tie scoring list with 1,449 points. She is also among the Gophers’ career leaders in assists (third – 413) and steals (fourth – 242). Fox was a three-time All-Big Ten honoree, including a First Team selection in 2008.

Fox was the third player in Minnesota to be selected in the WNBA Draft. She was drafted in the third round of the 2009 Draft by the Minnesota Lynx and was one of the squad’s final roster cuts after impressing the coaches with her play in training camp.
