Have you heard about Fritz Haeg and his Edible Estates project?

I came across an old post on inhabitat.com that explained how Edible Estates got started and why you should eat your own lawn.

Now, I really want to un-garden!

PS: I read there’s an Edible Estate in the Minneapolis area — Anyone know where?

Jaime,
As with your “wildflower” garden a vegetable garden in the front yard has a different name. It is called a “potager”. A potager is a French invention. It is a vegetable and flower garden combined. It is designed to be asthetically pleasing and at the same time productive. Our potager has really neat looking Italian kale, tomatoes, lettuce, Swiss chard, and lots of herbs. On the flower side are several rose bushes, and lots of annuals and perennials. A potager can even be organic.

From what I can figure out they have not started the yard here in Minnesota as they have only published the edition for Salina, KS. I would guess that the second edition (CA) is in progress, with the rest to follow within three years, if the project stays on schedule.
