In case you missed Ben’s post, Sustainlane.com released its 2006 US city rankings in the beginning of June. This nationwide study measures essential quality-of-life and economic factors that affect your personal sustainability in 50 of largest cities in America.

Minneapolis is no longer tied for 10, we are #10. Portland, Ore. is #1.

From a design perspective, the 2006 results wonderfully rendered in Flash, very clever and very fresh. As a fellow web designer, I can appreciate the all the hard work it takes to make hard data interesting on the web.

Thanks Green Girl. Appreciate you mentioning our SustainLane city study. Minneapolis sure has done a good job, as has Mr. Rybak, in terms of addressing ways that Minneapolis can be more sustainable, and I think these important initiatives, such as more farmers markets and the light rail system (which has been fairly successful!), so quickly translate into better quality of life, such as belonging to a community, sense of friendship, good music, and a vibrant local economoy. Warren Karlenzig, the director of the SustainLane US City Rankings, just launched a blog on the sustainability of US cities. You should check it out:
