Whatcha doing Saturday?

Usually I save my Saturday mornings for yoga class and a leisurely breakfast of coffee, scones and a good read. This Saturday, however, I’m gonna gorge myself on heirloom tomatoes.

From 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., the Dowling Community Garden is hosting a Heirloom Festival — a celebration of growing and enjoying heirloom veggies, fruits and flowers. You can taste a rainbow of heirloom tomatoes, learn about saving seeds and take a tour of the demonstration garden.

The Dowling Community Garden (one of last two remaining Victory Gardens in use today) is located in south Minneapolis on the grounds of the Dowling Urban Environmental school at 3900 West River Road.

You will find me and my tomato freak friend Sandra passed out under the demonstration tables covered in tomato juice and seeds — Yum!
