YOUR GUIDE TO THE TWIN CITIES
They’ve got darn near everything at the fair: butterheads, crop art, giant slides and all-you-can-eat on a stick. This year, they’re gonna have the Greengirls, too.
The garden blogging trio is going to be at the Star Tribune booth (at the base of the ramp to the Grandstand) from 4 to 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 27. Â
Stop by and swap stories about composting, canning, bee keeping, deadheading and cover crops . . . or just stop by and say hi. Â
We may not know where you get those neat yardsticks, but we do know where the best gardens on the fairgrounds are.
See you there!Â

Ohhh I’m so sad I won’t be able to meet all of you. My husband and I will be heading to Yellowstone for a week long camping trip. Have a great time at the fair.
Wow, have a great trip Seza! We’re thinking of organizing a fall plant swap in the Strib parking lot… Maybe we’ll see you there!
Wish I were going to the fair Monday. Oh well, maybe next year. A fall plant swap sounds like a lot of fun.
C’mon out, Peter. The crowds are likely to be thin cuz of the weather. We’ll need gardeners to ask questions other than . . . ‘Where’s the bathroom?’
While you’re there, check out the new MNLA garden on the Northwest corner of the AgHort Building. The view from the gazebo is very nice. You can see layers of interesting foliage. Can’t wait to see this garden mature, though I think the quaking aspens will probably outgrow their space rather quickly.
Peter,
I couldn’t get near the MNLA garden. It was too crowded! I did get to swing thru the DNR wildflower (emphasis on wild) garden, the Hort Society garden and the lovely one by Bever Landscaping. The rain garden near the Eco Experience was a disappointment, primarily because it looked like it was planted last week. It, too, might be nice when it matures.
