Do you plan your garden while you’re in a planning meeting? Talk about tomatoes when you should be talk marketing strategies? Search for plants online instead of worrying about the bottom line?

I do, too. A gray day is a perfect day for garden daydreaming. There’s nothing wrong with a little multitasking, right?

If you have gardening on the brain, the StarTribune’s Home + Garden team have put together some great resources for us northern gardeners.

LOL! I work from home and am often distracted by the view. I try to keep the gazing AND the plotting to a minimum but it’s hard particularly at this time of year. I’ve been known to sneak outside during working hours and pull some weeds–don’t tell the clients!

Love it! I look across the street at a parking lot and often daydream about re-landscaping the walkways.

I happended to look over at the light hanging on the underside of my cube shelf the other day and thought, “Now there’s a perfectly good UV light going to waste.” Ah, no more! I now have a Marigold, Petunia, Basil, Tomato, Parsley, Sage and Apple seedling taking up residence. They’re doing quite well, it is so warm at work. At 3:00 I take them into my Boss’s office so they can soak up some real sun on her window sill. She says it is okay as long as I’m not growing anything illegal. Now when things get hectic at work, I can go over and take a little plant break…Bring your garden to work day!

That’s a fabulous idea, Amanda! I’ve always wanted to grow field greens at the office and pick my own salad for lunch.

I have been wintering over some tri-color peppers and winged lavender in the hall at school all winter and go and commune with them. I tell anyone who sees me that I am taking off dead leaves. I have grown leaf lettuce in the grow station and that worked pretty well.

I have a lovely brick wall view from our window. No sunlight there. But Gabe who sits next to me and I are gardeners and chicken raisers. We talk garden in the mornings….

At least you have a window Robin. I have a brick wall. I have been thinking garden and talking seeds for months with co workers.
