Spry suspended; other pre-game thoughts

Greetings from West Lafayette.

The Gophers just announced that receiver Ralph Spry won’t be with the team today. He’ll miss next week’s game, too.

”Ralph Spry has been suspended from the team for two weeks, due to a violation of team rules,” Gophers coach Tim Brewster said in a team press release. “We’ll re-evaluate the situation in two weeks.”

Spry, a sophomore from Auburn, Ala., had started all seven of the Gophers’ games, compiling just seven catches with two fumbles. I’m told freshman Brandon Green will replace Spry in the starting lineup.

It’s not clear why Spry was suspended.

Spry had just 63 yards’ worth of receptions, and he had fumbled twice after making receptions, including a fumble at Illinois that could have been costly.

Green will now get his first start, something many fans expected would come earlier after the high-profile recruit signed on with the Gophers.

“It’ not clear what Spry was suspended.” That sentence doesn’t make sense. You people are professional writers, it’s what you do for a living. Do you remember proofreading from Writing 101? I see this ALL THE TIME and it makes you look incompetent.

Yeah, Kenn, and I’m sure your perfect at your job. Go away if you don’t have anything worthwhile to contribute on this blog.

Go Gophers! It might take 35-40 pts to win this game. Should be exciting

Kenn…Its a BLOG, not a feature article. Its about the rapid exchange of ideas, not grammar. Your comment makes you look like an elitist without a clue.

I have been watching PU linemen pulling down our defensive rushers with no calls, and we make something happen and get a holding call. Am I wrong? Biased? I don’t know.

OK. Purdue played with tremendous emotion that 1st half….they will wind down now from the adrenaline high, and the Gophers will dominate the 2nd half, as our good guys have played very well, just good enough to have the lead. Gophers will dominate the 2nd half, and win going away. What say gang???
