Wednesday afternoon, pre-practice
Posted on November 5th, 2008 – 3:10 PMBy Kent Youngblood
Here is a post-practice update:
First, don’t expect Brewster to respond to any of the rumors out there. And that means the current one — Tennessee — or any subsequent ones.
Here’s what he said after practice: ”I don’t respond to rumors, no rumors, no speculation. End of story. … It’s unfortunate that the focus gets taken off the Michigan game.
Second, Eric Decker remained limited to light jogging, but Brewster said he still expects Decker to play Saturday.
Third, Brewster said practices Tuesday and Wednesday were much sharper than those of a week ago.
Oh, and a reader passes on this link to a story from, I believe, ESPN the Magazine:
http://sports.espn.go.com/espnmag/story?SPSID=38605&SPID=3280&DB_OEM_ID=8400&id=3682285That’s about it. Have a good day.

If something were to happen with the Tennessee situation, I’d hope Brewster would show some class (unlike RichRod) and honor the terms of his contract.
I think Brewster is in an awfully good situation here, and would be making a huge career blunder to move. I also think it would be a huge risk for Tennessee. Let’s face it, Brewster doesn’t have years of success under his belt at this level.
Just my opinion.
In my humble opinion, I see Brewster wanting to create his own legacy at a place instead of chasing the money. But then again, he is a coach and the majority of them now days chase the money.
I do agree with you Jimbo that I think it would be a mistake for him to take that job. He has been a head coach for less than two years. It is a whole different world down there then it is here. Heck they just chased the 3rd winningist(sp?) active coach out of town.
I can’t believe that he would be seriously considered considering his lack of head coaching experience and we’re talking about Tennessee. The people of Tennessee take the Vols a lot more seriously down der than Gopher Nation does.
I hope nothing comes of it. I’d hate to have to take any steps back heading into the new stadium. If push comes to shove, Maturi should only extend if we finish 10-2 and win all trophy games in the next three weeks.
Mr. Youngblood, you tell Coach Brewster that his home is here in Minnesota. Gopher fans are going to be there for him and his players. Coach Brewster has a great opportunity to build a power in Minnesota with his stamp on it!
Brewster’s career shows a history of opportunistic moves. If not now, within two years he’s gone.
You ninnys are hilarious! First, YOU conjure up this image of an all-galactic, diamond in the rough, worldclass coach. Now you sit here and try to beat him down so someone doesn’t steal your little dream boat! LMAOR!
Get them before they get you! Look at what has has happened to every coach since Bierman. The only coach to escape being fired by the U of M was lou hoax. He left after almost 2 years. He lived to coach another decade or two. This prexy b. will fire coaches and buy out contractas with no regard for what will happen to a coache’s career. Make him extend your contract NOW! This brewster can parley 3 Big Ten wins into something really BIG…if only he will act NOW.
Somebody needs to bring this coaching career killer hire-er/fire-er prexy b to his knees! It’s a dirty job but somebody needs to do it. It might as well be the brewster and I think a volunteer connection just might do the trick. Beat Michigan and sign an 8 yer extension at Minnesota. Take it to prexy b before he sticks it to you! That is the message that this brewster needs to listen to…
It’s great having a coach that is as highly regarding nationally as Coach Brewster. There is no question that he has authored one of the biggest turnarounds in Div 1 history.
The haters try to detract from this by citing the favorable schedule or lump his record from last year into this year. That’s Ok. Since they have no credibility on this board, I guess it can’t sink any lower. After all, do we really think that our favorite illegal alien from Canada and psycho from Winona know more about coaching than football professionals from around the country? These supposed fans merely clutter the board with ridiculous accusations.
It makes me wish we had an ignore button feature.
In any sense, the true fans are pumped for this weekend and wish the best for Coach Brewster and the entire Gopher team.
GO GOPHERS!
I see where the Over/under is 48 points this weekend. I would take the under on that. I see a game that needs to be won by the defense. I realize Michigan scored a lot of points on Purdue (42) but I just don’t see this offense scoring a lot especially with Decker’s situation. I hope I am wrong.
Oh, oh, punky’s major conquest of 2008 [Northern Il] went down in flames last night 45-14 to………….mighty Ball State and fell to 5-4 on the year. How is that old BCS bound Bowling Green squad doing these days?
Recruiting, are you ever going to answer the question about what you want out of the Gopher football program? You’re such a coward.
Recruiting- take a look at every team in america in the top ten. This is why Florida/USC should be in title if they win out.
Texas Tech- 1A opponents are 8-17
Texas 1A opponents are 16-18
Oklahoma’s 1A opponents are 16-19 (TCU 9-1)
Florida’s are 16-10
Alabama’s are 12-21
USC’s 17-9
Minnesota’s 14-13
That’s Non-Conference Opponents for clarification.
Scooter, I have found peace and tranquility in following the comments on this board. I have achieved this by not reading anything posted by this/that Looney Toons and this/that wren. I always look at the first word, and if the post is directed at me, I merely chastise the author for even thinking they have the intellectual status to address me.
This/that/these/those two pigs are a disgrace to Gopher fans everywhere, and to the human race in general.
Isn’t it ironic that neither one of them actually attended the University of Minnesota?
GO GOPHERS!!!
Such drama queens. Coach Brewster has done nothing special here on the football field yet. When and if he does, your breathless awe will seem less emotional and contrived.
Loon- I agree he has done nothing special to this point. The next three weeks will be very telling. If this team wins 9 or 10, it is special no matter the opponents.
Jimbo;
I will do the same.
I’ll see you at the game…will you be the one wearing gold??
Scoooter
Eat your heart out jimbo…you are so incredibly obsessed and you are as transparent as a slightly dirty window.
It is time to EXTEND this brewster for a dozen years. Right? He should kick this prexy b’s butt and force the extension BEFORE he loses too many more Big Ten games though..This Michigan game is a MUST win situation for this brewster and this dunbar. IF this pair turns their NU loss into a 2 game losing streak by losing to Michigan they would be at 3-3 in Big Ten play and their overall Big Ten record would slip to 3-11. IF that happens, it would be tough going into madison. IF they should go into the final game at the darn dome riding a 3 game losing streak, and carrying a 3-12 Big Ten record, even prexy b might balk at extending this brewster’s contract. If this brewster closes the season out on a four game Big Ten losing streak, and sitting at 3-13 in Big Ten play even people like this jimbo will look funny kow-towing and genuflecting to the coaching ability of this brewster/dunbar combination.
Now, I want…I demand that this brewster close out on a three game winning streak in Big Ten play. I want there to be a lot of volunteer rumors and it would be so fun to see this prexy b rush into another long-term contract extension. It would be just so “prexy b” of him… Get this brewster locked up for a dozen years. There should be tenure in college football coaching anyway. These college prexys are so carelesss with money when they tray to play the hire-’em and fire-’em and extend-’em and buy-’em-out game. Take the option away from some foolish prexy and grant every football coach tenure!
jimbo, are you and d_a_c examples of U of M attendees? What kind of name-calling courses did you take as electives? You are so funny when you focus, as you always do in trying to counter some very fun and tongue in cheek contrasts to your company line material. Weak…very weak of you jimbo. With trashers and name-callers like you it is no wonder that some people around the state…make that a lot of people around the state are questioning what the heck they are doing up there in Minneapolis in that University of Minnesota undergraduate education system. It takes five or six years to finish on THAT campus? How ineffective a program is that? What kind of standards would that represent in values in education? This prexy b should look at cleaning the undergraduate programs over there on the University Campus up.
jimbo: since you are trying to be a creep, I’ll throw some of that right back at you. The University of Minnesota needs to improve their undergraduate system. Five and six year undergraduate students need to be a thing of the past…IF they are full-time students. That would represent a very pathetic system. Full time undergraduate students SHOULD graduate in the regular old four years.
Take that U of M undergraduat appologist. It really hurts the ranking of University of Minnesota undergraduate studies when compared to other univerity and college systems being ranked.
Yeah, Scooter, I’ll be the one in gold on Saturday. You’ll be able to recognize me. I’ll be the guy looking over my shoulder. There’s a rumor that a truckload of large North Dakota women will be at the game, and they think they have a score to settle with Jimbo.
Please do not address me, loser. Just having you type my name make me feel dirty.
Jimbo, I’ll be watching your back and pounce from the upper deck on any large, disgruntled ND women about to go postal on you…
Anyone else think the Gophs should sport the all gold unis on sat?
Anyone else think the Gophs should sport the all gold unis on sat?
That would be GREAT! I know Ted Roof will be in gold. I don’t think he has any other color shirts.
Dash, I like the gold uniform idea. I think they should also have alternate gold helmets. I hate the new all white road uniforms.
I want to see maroon top on white pants for Iowa.
Maroon on Gold is still our best look.
Ah, Loon. Just a little information for you..
That’s great that you can scream that Brewster hasn’t done anything. But this is coming from the Tennessee people and their media about Brewster. Why don’t you call their AD and tell him that.
Also, please direct this argument to the folks in Knoxville.
Thank you for your attention in this matter.
Rescooter–they are wearing the all gold. It kind of is the point of the Gold out.
Here is a recruiting article from ESPN about this weekend for the Gophers.
http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index?name=Midwest_Recruiting
Dash, my seats are in the upper deck. You need to be sitting above row 12 if you’re going to do any pouncing.
Thanks for having my back.
I liked the Yellow gold helmets with the maroon and white stripe. They looked like gophers.
Actually I just read in the other paper in town that they are wearing maroon jerseys with gold pants. My bad, I was sure they were going to go all gold as soon as they declared it a gold out.
This is a pretty good article too.

If people haven’t heard yet, Hageman has narrowed his list of schools to Minnesota and Wisconsin with Minnesota being the favorite. He still has to bring his ACT scores up to be eligible next year.
Bryce McNeal has narrowed his list of schools to three with Minnesota, Oklahoma (he was there last week), and Penn State as the finalists.
Jimbo, I’m in row 9, so I’ll throw some nacho cheese on the steps when they’re on their way up. That should get them to stop and graze for a bit and give you plenty of time to make your get away.
This is a big recruiting weekend, and I can’t think of a better way to excite them about our program, than a convincing win, followed by a flood to the jug!
Dash, you’re the man!
With what Brewster’s done with this team and the new stadium, I would think a win on Saturday would definitely sway some thinking by the recruits coming in.
This is a big weekend for the program. Talk about an understatement!
GO GOPHERS!!!!
Jimbo—every game is big in its own way. The beauty of CFB. Can you imagine if we get half those guys(recruits) that are going to be at the game?? I am really worried about the offense putting points on the board.
I can’t see a AD at Tennessee replacing the longest tenured coach in the SEC with a coach who is 8-13 all-time. Don’t get me wrong, Brew is the real deal, but that is way to risky for Tenn. If they actually were to do it, hello Lane Kiffin!
[…] Minnesota’s Tim Brewster has been mentioned for the head-coaching vacancy at Tennessee, and the next few weeks could determine how viable a candidate he’ll be, the Star Tribune’s Kent Youngblood writes in his blog. […]

PH are you really that clueless?
Kent, how long have you done your job as a repoerter? The whole thing is a sting on the U. Brewster takes over a team that could have won 7 games last year but they don’t. Has a team this year that should win at least 7 but lowers expectations so people get off his back. Now we win 7 and everyone thinks we have one whale of a coach. He is under paid by Big Ten standards so he is happy that someone has flipped his name out there for the Tenn. job. He will not get it and he will get a pay raise by the U. Isn’t it funny that there have been three other jobs open before Tenn. and we never heard any of this? We where 6-1 and 7-1 before the Tenn. jobed opened. He is playing his cards just the way he planned. We go through this every time our coach gets on a roll. The previous coach entertained MSU and LSU in year three at MN and he got a nice raise out of that and then along came OSU. We should get use to the fact that MN will never be one off the top paying jobs in football like it is in Basketball and we will always have a coach that could leave. You guys are idiots if you think that MN compares to Tenn. You can WIN a national championship at Tenn. You have to luck into one at MN and that will never happen again given the landscape of college football today. Just my opinion.
How is it that we should have won 7 games last year? A team with a new offensive system, a defense missing 2 of its 3 best players, coming off of a 6-7 season? Don’t forget that one of those wins was 10-9 against NDSU. There were 7-8 winnable games last year, but none of them were gimmes.
7-2 (3-2) is better than we have been for a long time, with all of our 3 remaining games being winnable.
You can easily make the case that TN “lucked” in to their 1998 championship - 1968 was their other most recent and now it has been 10 more years without one. TN may be a prestigious job, but Brewster has the opportunity to create that here - something that goes along with his personality. Plus, MN is a MUCH nicer place to live, and our athletic dept is obviously investing whatever it takes to build winning programs in every sport.
“You can WIN a national championship at Tenn. You have to luck into one at MN and that will never happen again given the landscape of college football today. Just my opinion.”
You don’t “luck” into championships, you can’t lose more than 2 games and still have a chance. That’s a d*** good season. Both Kansas and Missouri were in contention last year, so yes, I think it’s possible Minnesota could do it.
brewster has done “nothing special on the field”?
how about going from 1-9 last year at this time to 7-2.
before i hear about the pitiful schedule–it is the exact same schedule!
NIU substituted for miami (o), MSU substitutes for ndsu. same conference schedule.
that seems like “something” to me!
If memory serves, the Vols have won 6 national championships, and the Gophers have won 6 national championships… Looks like you can win them at either place!
Maroon and Gold looks better on me than TN Orange… I think I’ll stay!
If the Gophers continue to improve, Brewster will have a choice: Does he want to bolt to a top 10 program and be next in line among the other winning coaches there, or does he want to be a legend at MN… the Moses that led the rodents out of 40 years of slumber? IF the Gopher program continues to rise, THAT will be the Brewster choice.
The money should be the same. If there is a committment to build a stadium, there certainly will be financial committment to match or beat Tennessee or any other program.
So, if the team reaches the top of the Big 10, the money is the same, and the Brewsters find the Twin Cities to their liking… why would he want to bolt to another program? Continued improvement of the program means there is POTENTIAL to have that bronze Brewster statue on the plaza out in front of TCF Bank Stadium.
Of course, after only 3 Big 10 wins, it is too early to talk of that statue, or a flight to Tennessee.
Yes, spread, that was ’something’ taking any bowl team down to a 1-11 in one year. Taking the guys back to the same sort of season we have seen so many times over the past ten years seems very non special. To use the modern phrase, is it really something to ‘Goof Up’ so much less than last year?
When did we get into this “ugly uniform” rage? How classical is any uniform that changes every week?
Dash, orange looks good on a person only if that person happens to be a pumpkin.
spread…when you say 1-9 last year( 2007), which games are you skipping? The North Dakota State loss that this brewster was responsible for? Which other loss do you try to not mention.
This brewster has to OWN his throw away seasons when he takes them. It was his doing and it was hs choice. It did NOT have to be. You know that and this brewster will always be on record for the 2007 season.
Captain America -What are you talking about “opportunistic career moves?” Brewster was with Mack Brown for 14 years -first at UNC, then to Texas. He then gave the NFL a shot and was with SD for 3 years until the head coach was fired. The two years with the Broncos, until getting UM. Nothing opportunistic there -never left anyone in a lurch, etc. Brewster may leave at some point (who wouldn’t fo an extra 2-3mill a year?), but he has been pretty loyal unti now.
I will be sporting orange on Sunday, but that will be of the blaze variety!
I really don’t think there is a chance Brewster will leave for TN. He is a Big Ten guy and has a chance at becoming an icon of MN football if he brings the program back to its winning ways of the past. His dream job is coaching Illinois, but after not getting a look there, MN is about as close to that as he can get. He knows that he has a great opportunity here, and I personally believe he’s in it for the long haul.
if only brewster had been content with mediocrity.
i suppose tricky dick rodriguez is CHOOSING to skip a bowl game for the first time in 30 years.
has brewster ever tried to deflect responsibility for last season?
i am not skipping any games i meant to say 1-8 up to this point of the season. just like we are 7-2 at this point of the season.
what does brewster have to do to get you to think he has done something “special” on the field?
I hope DAC’s health is okay. He has not posted in a couple of days. Anyone know if he was having post surgery problems? I don’t think he is golfing.
This brewster needs to win 10 games in a year like this season. He had a chance to win 11, but, for the second year in a row he let one against NU get away.
Next year, the Gophers may be a better team and may have a chance to win less games than they have had the chance to win this year. 2008 was THE year. 10 wins in the regular season would bevery special. A program, a team, a coach have VERY FEW seasons that set up the way the 2008 season has set up. Winning all three trophy games would indeed make this a special season. It would verge on greatness. It is a DREAM sequence possiblilty and it would certainly help ease the pain caused by the 2007 throw away season. Sure, it IS asking a LOT from the kids. However, I doubt very much that the kids recognize how SELDOM a year like the 2008 season comes around to a program in the Big Ten that is not and has not been a Michgian, Ohio State and once in a while a PSU. The fact that with a 7-2 record, 3-2 in the Big Ten the team has 3 TROPHY games left…2 of them also BORDER BATTLES makes this a truely unique situation. These 3 games are bigger than this coach, this coache’s staff, this team and these players. IT is MUCH bigger than this fan base. This is a chance for something GREAT to happen…three wins and they have brought it home…for this coach of theirs, this coache’s saff, their team, themselves and this undeserving fan base of theirs. They could help bring meaning to the JUG game with Michigan and as always, wnning BOTH Border Battles would mean regioal supremecy within the Big Ten.
It can’t be just a single win…or even two wins though. One would be nice…two would be better…but three would be INCREDIBLE!
Chances to be INCREDIBLE don’t happen very often to teams in the Big Ten other than Michigan, Ohio State and once in a while PSU. However, that is the beauty of a season with this kind of potential. It is, indeed a rare and wonderful opportunity for the players on this team and this coach has an incredible opportunity.
Bud,
My guess would be that all of the mean spirited name calling he does most likely took a real toll on his energy level and left his cranial surgery scars in a weakened condition. All of that anger he spews progably got the best of him and laid him low.
He really does not present himself in a very nice way and as you probably know…what goes around…comes around. Hopefully he will calm down, be a bit less nasty and perhaps can experience a bit more stability in his interpersonal interactions on the board and elsewhere. The name-calling that he does is really rather freighful and is possibly detremental to his own personal well-being…So, cool it with the nasty name-call binges d_a_c. I have seen pictures of that moniker name that you have taken on. This d_a_c singer dude or what ever is really part of an ugly scene in terms of musicality and in terms of humanity…

Dude, if you want to move to the MAC just say so….its where over 1/2 of punk’y career wins are from….I-AA and mid-majors.
These rumors come at a bad time. This is when recruiting for next years class starts to heat up. This is about the same time rumors about Mason applying for the OSU job came out, and he lost a lot of recruits because he was dancing in Columbus. Coach Brewster needs to come out publicaly and state that no other head coaching job is of interest to him. That would certainly put everything to rest like Tubby did in todays paper. It would be great to finally see some loyalty in the football dept. at the U. of M. Like he said when he signed with the Gophers, “this job is the best hidden secret in all of college football”. Nuff said.
Now is exactly the time when this brewster had better be looking out for himself. IF he tanks the rest of this season and wins only about 4 or 5 games next season, the administration will be building a short list getting ready to ditch him like he has the plague. If this so-called little fan base and kool-aid drinking society changes their mind about him, he will have ZERO base of support. IF he has a brain he will milk the Tenness thing for all he can. Plus, if he has a brain, he will be doing everything he can do to make sure he wins 3 more games this year. THEN, he can gt some protection from this firing squad…this killer prexy b and his little buddy maturi. They LOVE to borrow money from the general fund to flex their muscles and do the macho administrative thing…FIRE a coach every four or five years!
So, this brewster is a huge fool if he caves in to fickle fan pressure to do the loyalty pledge thing to the U of M. The U of M will ditch him in the middle of the night if they administratively decide that is what they want to do. The ONLY security for a football coach is a long-term contract tht they would have to buy out to get out of. They have NO blind loyalty to a coach…NO coach should have blind loyalty to them without an iorn-clad long term contract.
Kit, thats all fine for Tubby because he is one of the highest paid Baskerball coaches in Div.I. Brewster would be stupid to say that at this time unless he had a new contract that paid him more at MN. This is just the way it works boys. You should be use to it by now if you have followed college football very long. Beilima leveraged Whisky after his first year with the KST job and Kirk did it to Iowa with the NFL. It happens and you can not worry about it. You have heard nothing from Tenn. about who they are looking at so it is still all just rumors.
Bud,
If Brewster won 7 games last year they should have given him a lifetime contract. I wrote the Gophers were going to be terrible before the season started in 07. It was so EASY to see they were going to be bad. I just don’t know how people couldn’t see it!
gold4, I guess you knew that BG was going to go for 2 and beat us in OT and FAU was going to beat us by 3. Then of course you knew that NDSU would roll on us after scoring 9 points the year before and NW would come from down by 21 to beat us in overtime after we went for two points to one up BG. It must be great to have such good insight gold4.
And I forgot about that crappy Iowa team that beat us 21-16. That would be the non-bowl bound team.
Brewster trivialized the little brown jug but if we win I bet you he will have a few things to say. Maybe he should have followed his same line of thinking by saying we have won Big Ten and national championships at MN and we use to beat Michigan on a regular basis so lets get this thing started. By down playing the Little Brown Jug he is saying that it is not important because Michigan beats us all the time. Lets not forget that we played them toe to toe in 2003 35-38, 2004 24-27 and beat them in 2005. It does not sound to me like we have been their whipping boy. The had better come to play or they will get beat.
It does amaze a person how little some of the posters remember about our previous games with Michigan and Michigan State even over the past ten years, let alone the last fifty.
Phil Fulmer would make much more sense than Lane Kiffin… :&)
A 17 game losing streak to MSU was very perplexing and frustrating and some years kept other good things from being noticed. MSU may be the 2n fiddle in the State of Michigan, yet, SPARTY has stayed in the national spotlight because of their success in basketball as well as periods of success in football. They always will have a national following to a certain extent and can recruit nationally rather well.
Then, there is always that very natural rivalry that they have with Notre Dame in football. The two schools are located not too far apart and it certainly is not unheard of that Sparty has success in South Bend sometimes as often as the corn/blue stae of Michigan favorite college team.
MSU has been a bitter pill for the Gophers to swallow in football all too often.
MSU also was brought into the Big Ten by Biggie Munn…They won a NC their first official year in the conference in the mid fifties. Biggie won 30 some odd games in succession and then stepped down as coach…turned the duties over to Duffy D. and Biggie became the AD at MSU
Biggie had been an All-American at the Unviersity of Minnesota as well as at Syracuse. He played for the QUES after having been in the Armed Services, I believe.
Murray Warmath had some of his greatest success against MSU…because, while Murray was having great seasons in the early 1960’s, Michigan struggled mighitly during the 1950 and into the mid 1960’s, when Bo Schembeckler came to town in Ann Arbor.
MSU really has a pretty interesting football history itself.
Everyone please show up at the victory walk on Saturday at 9am on the Metrodome Plaza. We have BIG TIME recruits coming in and they love the attention they get. It helped for the OSU game last year.
Will the richrod experiment be an event that pushes Michigan to a lower level than they are used to? They did break a rule that has haunted the University of Minnesota. In order to bring this richrod character…a coach who has had a history of throwing away seasons prior to arriving at Michigan in with his fancy spread offense, Lloyd Carr was encouraged…highly encouraged to resign. Just as Lloyd had risen to lofty heights on the back of his domination of Ohio State during Ohio State’s “Coop” years, Carr’s downfall appears to have come about with the arrival of Tressel at OSU and OSU’s domination in recent years of Michigan.
One very remarkable thing to keep in mind though, in some ways this transition by Michigan to this richrod spread really does mess with the entire philosophy of “MICHIGAN” football that has characterized this program since Bo Shembeckler’s arrival in 1969. Bo’s twenty seasons produced the greatest winning percentage in the history of Michigan Football. Great players. Ball control offenses and GREAT, GREAT defenses characterized Bo’s teams. But, as great a coach as Bo was, he NEVER won a National Championship. Moeller came in when bo stepped down. He did well but an ugly incident in a bar forced him to resign. That is when Lloyd Carr took over. Mr. Carr had a tremendous winning percentage at Michigan, almost, but not quite as good as that of Bo. However, Mr. Carr DID achieve something that had not been accomplished at Michigan since 1947…something that Bo NEVER did accomplish…M. Carr WON a NC!
I wonder if my theory that you NEVER force or hasten the retirement of a coach who brought your school the honor of a National Championship will eventualy play out for Michigan as well? Will Michigan experience the curse that befell Minnesota following their forcing of Bernie Bierman (5 NC’s) and then eventually Murray Warmath (1 NC) out? At Michigan, they have a history of 10 National Championships. Fielding Yost won 6. Mr. Chrisler won a couple. Lloyd Car won the most recent…and the last NC.
And now, Michigan has richrod throwing a season away. The defense has at times played TERRIBLY. The offense has been up…down…all over the place. That this coach from Michigan has directed all the talent on this Michigan team to a 2-7 record is amazing. Losing to soe of the teams this richrod has lost to is amazing and amuzing…in equal parts.
I believe that this richrod will have a potent offense in years to come…but…I just don’t see him having the Maize/Blue DEFENSES that we old-times have come to expect from the Shembeckler/Carr type Michigan teams.
Bo NEVER won a NC at Michigan. That amazes me. I’ll go on record predicting that this richrod will never win a NC at Michigan either. Bo won at a rate of almost 82.5% of the games he ever coached for Michigan. This “throw away” season alone gives me great confidence in predicting that this richrod will NEVER approach an 83.5% winning percentage. I don’t think he will ever seriously challenge Lloyd Carr’s winning percentage of about 75% either. It is so easy to recruit talent to Michigan. Thanks to the GREAT history of Michigan Football. Thanks to Bo. Thanks to much of the body of work finished by Mr. Carr as well. I don’t think this spread-happy richrod character will ever achieve the defenses to win much more than about 65% of the games he coaches for Michigan. He has already picked up 7 losses in his first year of coaching at Michigan. He is really behind the curve already. He needs to be 7-2. He should be 7-2. He won’t be able to make all these losses up easily.
I do assume that he will attempt to call up the Michigan dominance of ownership an possession of the JUG TROPHY as motivation for the Corn/Blues on Saturday. I don’t know IF he has the defense to get the job done…but…he CERTAINLY still has the raw talent to do serious damage in his attempt to retain the JUG.
This richrod though…has shown this old Big Ten fan NOTHING…He CERTAINLY is NO Bo and he certainly is NO Lloyd…the LAST Michigan Coach to win a NC. However, ANY time Michigan comes to Minneapolis or Minnesota goes to Ann Arbor: Michigan has SERIOUS football talent. Send the Maize & Blue back to Ann Arbor with one more mark in their LOSS column…and one JUG TROPHY lighter. Win the JUG, Gophers!

Thanks, liberals, for dumbing down America to the point a Marxist who hates the country can be Fraud-Elect.
d_a_c: That hole in your skull must be bothering you to no end. You are so cranky and mad at something you have no control over. Yet, undoubtedly, IF you were a member of either the right or the left, you have given a lot of voters enough concern to rise up and elect someone who you are angry with before he has even been sworn in. You wuld start your attacks of hate so soon d_a_c? That hole in your skull would appear to be infected to the point of total contamination and rejection. I think I will start calling you toxic_shock_d_a_c. I do believe that is a good alter-moniker for you.
