Another Maresh update
Posted on February 25th, 2009 – 5:39 PMBy Kent Youngblood
Greetings. The Maresh family updated Sam’s status on the CaringBridge site and now it looks like surgery might not be an option to treat the growth in his left calf. A visit to the Mayo Clinic last week resulted in a biopsy that showed the growth was just scar tissue and was not cancerous.
The Maresh family reports Sam’s doctors are now exploring options for treatment and that surgery is a last option. furthermore, the Maresh family is confident that Sam will be able to take part in spring practice and will be able to play this fall.
I’ll update you when I know more about the treatment that is ultimately chosen.
Have a good day.

Mini football = complete joke. A few weeks until spring ball and all you jerks have to talk about is sammy this and sammy that and better not talk bad about sammy? Any idea what color panties sammy wore today and if they are the same ones he wore last week? Kid hasn’t played a down yet but as soon as he quits cutting his legs while shaving, “he will dominate college football.” uhh..ya…
Leave it to some low life bucky lickin’ piece of Shiite to post some tasteless garbage. Well red whiskey dick, you f**king coward, why don’t you give us all an address so we can come and discuss this in person?
All of this Maresh’s health deficiencies came on this Brewster’s watch. If Mason were still coach, this Maresh would have been on the field last year, alongside my heroes Dom Jones and Alex Daniels.
My daughter is currently dating Dom. Being a Mason recruit is all I need to know about the young man. Perhaps he’ll make her a film star.
This Brewster needs to recruit more criminals to achieve Mason’s level of, quote unquote, success.
Mason. Mason. Mason.
Why did we ever let him go?
TCF could have been like one big prison.
On the upside: good news for Maresh.
Go Sam!
The Sam Maresh story should be made into a movie. A great kid, a wonderful family, and faith in God and the power of prayer.
Sam has many who are cheering for him and hope he can reach his ultimate potential.
The low-life brewster apologists are out and about tonight trying to impersonate people who look realistically at the pathetic job this brewster has done to this point in time.
These brewster apologists have no hope. This brewster will be gone in two years unless he can win a hell of a lot of Big Ten football games in 2009 and 2010.
The low-rent brewster apologists will get exactly what they have coming to them if this brewster continues to incompetently fail to win enough Big Ten football games. 3-11 really stinks. 55 to nothing losses at the hands of a middle of the pack iowa hawgeyez team will get this brewster thrown out of the U on his butt at the conclusion of the 2010 season…with a lot of “good riddance to bad gm/recruiting…” calls, cards and e-mails noting that event. Let’s face it, this brewster really never has stood any kind of chance to succeed. He had no experience and he really has not got the ability needed to succeed in the Big Ten as a coach. The fool thinks he can gm/recruit…and he hasn’t shown anything yet. He sure could pick his coordinators…that dunbar and that withers…8-17…3-13 Big Ten. Pretty sad…brewster apologists… ; 0 )
The above post:
Paragraph 1: He’s mad
Paragraph 2: Big Ten wins
Paragraph 3: He doesn’t like Brewster
Nothing about Sam Maresh. Nothing about the offensive or defensive coordinators. Nothing about the modified spread offense. Nothing about recruiting.
Just a post about….(you guessed it)…Nothing.
As per an old Chinese proverb, “Big wind come from empty cave.”
That’s what I have said, too. Week in, week out. He just “rain man’s” it in.
I hope his psychiatrist does a better job with Renegade in 2009.
And in the end, what is the worst case scenario with Brewster: he, at worst, joins a 40+ year tradition of losing.
BFD. In his defense, however, Brewster took over a program in legal and academic tatters.
I bet Sam bounces back quickly.
You dopes crack me up! That is all………….
This coming school year will be a stellar year for Gopher men’s sports. The Gophers should be able to compete with anyone in the nation in our big 5 sports (basketball, football, hockey, wrestling and baseball). The Tennis team could be ranked next year as well.
Should Maturi get any credit for that or was a solid foundation laid before he got here?
andoveryou fool: the latest academic reports reflect the gains that the failed and fired Mason had. Those figures are always released about data from two to three years before. It is Mason’s recruits who have been graduating and making the grdes.
We’ll find out in the year 2010 just how this brewster character has fared with his recruits and academics.
This brewster in many senses seems to be crash burning this program.
But, make no mistake, Mason was fired for not winning enough ig Ten games and was paid millions and millions of dollars so that the incompetent prexy b and macturi could own his contract that they had given him the year before. Gross fiscal lack of responsibiliy on the part of prexy b and macturi. Ditch them NOW!
Gold.
I assume you mean the Gophers will be good enough to make a game of it with the likes of Florida, USC, Oklahoma, Texas, etc. Right?
I forgot. How many Gophers were invited to the NFL combines?
Wake when that happens, if I am still around.
Byfeild you are wrong. If Mason were in charge, he would have coached them up and we would have many NFL prospects. I am starting to change my mind about Big Ten wins too. I think Brewster needs to take a lesson from Mason on getting along with the High School coaches. Mason put those dudes or dudettes, whatever the case may be, in their collective place.
Mason was long of tooth - did you see how whit his teeth are?
Yep, I goofed. No doubt Willie, Hightower and Davis would all have been giants and like men amongst boys playing under Mason’s devasting D.
Bayfield, that was not me posting at 12:15 pm on the 26th of Feb. Just so you know.
Come to think of it, it was me.
Ditch this Mason NOW!
Wren
I figured that Wren. This blog is in need of some monitoring. Does anyone at the Strib know how to use the delete button?
This Brewster sucks. In fact, he’s as bad as his predecessor. This Brewster needs to recruit more scholars, you know, like Gary Russell.
Ahhhh….but this brewster paints very subtle boundaries in hues and tones that are not clear. Pretty soon we will see what kind of corners this brewster has painted himself into with his many variations on a shade of gray. It is all so unclear at this point in time.
Only Big Ten wins will help this brewster character.
I want you all to know that we should just ditch this talk about this Mason. I can’t understand why he’s on the Big Ten network with color commentary. Doesn’t he have anything else to do? Why isn’t he coaching at Ohio State, or Tennessee, or Washington, or West Virginia, or Rutgers, or Boston College, or South Carolina, or North Carolina, or Florida, or Florida State, or Alabama, or LSU, or Texas, or Oklahoma, or Oklahoma State, or Kansas, or Kansas State, or Nebraska, or Wyoming, or Colorado, or New Mexico, or New Mexico State, or Arizona, or Arizona State or UNLV or Montana, or Montana State, or Boise State or Washington State, or Syracuse, or California, or Air Force or Army, or Navy or USC, or UCLA, or Stanford or San Diego State, or Texas Tech or Texas A&M or Iowa, or Northwestern, or Illinois (with his Zook like recruiting) or Michigan, or Michigan State, or Penn State, or Virgina, or Conneticut, or Maine, or New Hampshire, or even Slippery Rock.
Ditch this Mason NOW!
By the way, I have a doctors appointment for all you dudes and/or dudettes (whichever the case may be) information.
Another thing, this is my first attempt at posting something different from what I usually do. I am turning over a new leaf.
Wren is making progress:
Paragraph 1 - If Mason were that good, he’d be coaching somewhere else.
Paragraph 2 - He wants the Big Ten network to fire Mason
Paragraph 3 - He has a doctors appointment today
Paragraph 4 - He’s turning over a new leaf.
He has a doctors appointment every day. All nut cases in the psyche ward for the criminally insane do.

PH, no worries about the 5 guys transfering from the Pigeons this offseason? I guess that leaves about 5 other guys on the team without an arrest record….
The thing is that this prexy b and this macturi were SO stupid that they paid Mason millions and millions of dollars so that he has no need to coach anywhere else. Those incompetent administrators signed him to a long extension after they let his contract run down to nothing and within 12 montsh borrowed millions and millions of dollars from the General Fund of the University of Minnesota to pay off Mason. prexy b and macturi were the totally incompetent idiots who threw away millions and millions of dollars on Mason’s retirement!
You fools and brewster apologists are such dense dudes or dudetts that you miss the total incompetence of this prexy b and macturi. Those two long of tooth and incapable fools need to be run off to collect their own golden parachutes. The U of M is jsut throwing all kinds of money away on administrators who are incapable and incompetent.
And you people try to make this be about Mason. Now THAT is a laugh. He’s got the cash and you people are stuck with the trash…macturi and prexy b have got to go and you sad, sick brewster apologists are holding the bag looking like the total fools that you are. 1-11 in 2007. 0-8 that same year in Big Ten play. That sucked big time. Then losing the final 5 games in 2008 and being humiliated by iowa by a score of 55 to zippo doesn’t make much of a case for this brewster character.
But, Mase got millions and millions from that macutri and prexy b. That is just as funny as all get out isn’t it brewster apologists!!!!!!!! ; 0 )
One disturbed individual…………
This whynebawl meth dealer, that criminal border jumper buffloonatic, and those bud-like morons posting here from wren’s computer must be informed they will not be allowed to ruin Gopher football with their lies, sleaze, slander, and pornograpy.
Just look at you and your trashy talk d_a_c. It is obvious to any decent human being who and what you are, stand for and represent. In the end: only the number of Big Ten wins vs the number of Big Ten losses will decide the fate of this brewster character. So far, he is failing. IF he can win a LOT of Big Ten games in 2009, it would be good for his cause and his case. IF he continues to get his brains bashed in by 55 to nothing scores by Big Ten teams he is a hopeless and lost cause.
You are sad and sick and are exactly what your words describe you as. words can tell a lot about an individual d_a_c. You lose.
This whynebawl meth dealer, that criminal border jumper buffloonatic, and those bud-like morons posting here from wren’s computer must be informed they will not be allowed to ruin Gopher football with their lies, sleaze, slander, and pornograpy.
We have another six months of this yet to come. Addition #3 of Brewster Ball is only six months away. Let us hope this is not mulligan #3.
“Edition #3″
Wren/Loon—Dac is just trying to provide balance to your constant attempts to cut the program down. You obviously do not want Brewster and the U to be successful.
Oh, but I do. What I am tired of is the inability of Coach Brewster to deliver on said promises.
You guys promised the world and delivered 3-14 against BCS teams.
Tex, next time you want to change coaches perhaps you should point out that the team is likely to be crud for several years while the coach cycles through various offensive and defensive coaches and schemes. I predicted such a disaster but you smart guys said “oh no, dear Loon, there is no reason why we need to fall back into being a bottom three program just because we change coaches!!!”
Loon—grow up. You are old enough to know there are no guarantees in life. The U took a chance on Brewster. The verdict is still out. It is too early to run him out of town. After year 4, an honest/objective evaluation of his tenure can be done. Until then, offer constructive criticism about the program all you want—I just don’t like your blatant attempts to undermine the program.
Buffloonatic … Wake up and quit your constant attempts to smear Gopher football.
The record over the past two years is not based on offensive and defensive schemes. It is based on the quality of personnel available. That quality was upgraded in year 2, reflected by the dramatic improvement to seven wins.
Year 3 will indicate a further improvement in personnel both through recruiting and through development of young players on the roster.
Only small children would stand around whining for two years and wailing, “But, but, but … HE PROMISED.”
You can’t be a good football coach without having a positive attitude and outlook. If some infantile morons want to continue to equate positive thinking with “promises” then let them take it somewhere else.
DAC—”whining” is the perfect word to describe the postings of wren/loon. What a pair of losers.
This brewster had better get his running shoesw on if he keeps losing Big Ten gams by 55 to zip scores. He was a no show. d_a_c is everything he says about others. He is sick. He is sad. He calims he has a hole in his head. I wouldn’t believe a word he writes. People can judge him by his words. He is a representative of this brewster character. He is low-classed, low-rent and just plain low. IF he thinks he is defending this brewster, he is instead damning this brewster to appear to be just like those who would defend his 3-13 Big Ten record and his 8-17 overall record. His 55 to nothing loss to a Big Ten team pretty well describes him and the efferts his apologist d_a_c display.
tex: you had better tell your boy brewster to start winning some Big Ten football games during the 2009 season. He is cutting his own throat by failing to win enough Big Ten games. The jury has been judging him from game #1. There is a lot of evidence that has been witnessed and he is digging himself such a deep hole he will never be able to climb out without at least five Big Ten wins a season starting in 2009. Five Big Ten wins in 2009 and 5 Big Ten wins in 2010 would give him a total of 13 Big Ten wins and 19 Big Ten losses after FOUR seasons. That would probably save his job and get him a contract extension. Many less Big Ten wins than 10 in the next two seasons will drive that sucker right out the door and somewhere on down the road. Running shoes on or not. He HAS to win a lot of Big Ten games in 2009 and 2010. That is his only prayer.
*****CORRECTION*****This brewster had better get his running shoes on if he keeps losing Big Ten games by 55 to zip scores. He was a no show his first two years here. d_a_c is everything he says about others. He is sick. He is sad. He claimed he had a hole in his head because of illness. I wouldn’t believe a word he writes. He probably staged his own tragic automobile accident over on gh too.

Running shoes on or not. He HAS to win a lot of Big Ten games in 2009 and 2010. That is his only prayer.
This brewster is completely responsible for Gopher Football and he has been since the day he accepted the job. This macturi and this prexy b are completely responsible for this brewster chracter ever since the day they offered him the job and he accepted. Before anything can be done with this brewster’s standing, this prexy b and this macturi must be judged for what they have done to the Gopher Football Program’s coaching staff. They are completely responsible for having brought in a “gm/recruiter” rather than a coach. So far, it is not working out too well…That five loss collapses to end the season in 2008 was a real kick in the pants to the direction prexy b and macturi have taken the football program. Especially painful was that 55 to NOTHING humiliation in the last game at the damn dome.
Replacement of macturi and prexy b at the end of the 2009 season could help pave the way for better things…for the football program, and in the case of this prexy b…for the University of Minnesota.
New blood is needed.
Regarding the above posts:
A huge waste of bandwidth.
I’ve got a question - only true fans reply:
Regarding Tramaine Brock: I noticed he’s not on the roster. I know he’s taking classes at his former Junior College. Does this prevent him from being on the roster or is this more permanent?
Another day, another Iowa arrest. Prater arrested for DWI. Is Iowa up to 30 arrests yet over the past two years? Talk about a lack of institutional control. And I thought Florida St was the criminals….
Regarding Brock, if he gets his grades up he can be on the roster. Must just be able to stay in school, or get back in.
Tex, you are confused again. I am not now, nor have I ever called for the head of Coach Brewster. We are stuck with him regardless of his ability or lack thereof.
My opinion is that the ‘real fans’ who wanted Mason fired for losing too many Big Ten football games will not be amused with the opening of our beautiful, new TCF Bank Stadium if the season turns into “Throw Away Football Season, Part Trois”.
But, that is just MHO. What would I know compared to the ‘real fans’?
No wonder the students tried to burn it down–twice! Real nice move, building that toilet bowl excuse for a stadium in the middle of no parking for miles, no tailgating for miles and traffic backed up to Rogers!!!! Oh well, you can pass the time while walking the 5 miles from your car by getting mugged, raped or assalted!!
PS:
That stupid thug brock is gone for good! Just when you thought he was able to count the toes on both feet…..
Loon—you have to file the Mason era in the history books. He had a good 10 year run. Like it or not, he won’t be coming back. Accept it and move on. Hoping that Brewster fails to validate your claim Mason should never have been fired is very egocentric on your part and helps no one.
Deal with it you mummy-humper, TX.
Actually Tex, as I have posted many times, knowing what I now know about the recruiting practices of the previous coach, I do not want him back under any circumstances (just my opinion).
Nonetheless, I will not forgive Maturi for misleading us all at huge financial costs to both the fan base and the taxpayers. Yes, Maturi got the stadium he wanted without costing the U a single cent, but to do that he had to play his game of gutting our recruiting under Mason for his last three years, pay Mason a ton of money and mislead the fan base regarding his actions (notice I did not say ‘lied’, he let fans like you misrepresent what was happening for him).
As for me turning the page, how will that help? If I post “oh goody, we only lost to Iowa 55-0 when Mason would have lost by 77-0!” would that help? Our win lost record has nothing to do with me or what I write (short of lying). My not liking the spread, or not liking all the hype, or not liking “dumb the team down”, or not liking the white uniforms, or not liking the “recruiting like Zook, etc., etc., etc. has nothing to do with our winning or losing games or the survival of this coach.
After all, I have never thought that this is anything other than a real hard job, in a hard city, with the perception of brutal weather, with a fan base that does not travel, does not arrive on time, does not stay until the end of the games, does not go to bowl games, etc., etc., etc.
It was your bright idea to take this path and there not only was no way for me and others to stop you, there is now no way I am going to let you off the hook for the path you chose to follow.
As for me, I will continue to observe and comment on the path WE are on due to your wisdom. That’s just the way I deal with the mess Joel, you and others have created for my non enjoyment.
A buffloonatic asks,
“What would I know compared to the ‘real fans’?”

Not a thing.
I have a question for the Masonites. There is a possibility that this coming school year MIGHT be one of the best ever in the history of Gopher Men’s sports . Should Maturi recieve any credit for what happened or was he just a lucky benefactor?
Gold–no sense in going there with that question. What do you make of Brewster landing #2 recruit for the 2010 class?? I will give him credit, the guy is relentless. However, unless the guy is 5 star can’t miss, it seems a little early to me.
gold04 your stupidity is getting tiresome please stop being a childish asshole with your nonsemce. TX wally, this brewster’s big commit number 2 is still looking, better go to mindcontrol.com and re-read the story. 55-0 is unforgivable.
With Brewsters success with recruiting lately, I’m starting to sense a little desperation among the haters.
I only hear phrases repeated over and over again. How sad that these so called “fans” feel that they need to trash the program.
goldohfour: I hope you realize that was not me posting. Once again the pathetic and desperate brewster apologists are trying to hijack monikers. Therefore, I will continue to change monikers from time to time when the pathetic brewster apologists assume the qualities of this brewster character and attempt to assasinate good monikers.
Not only does it take a half dozen or more brewter apologists to try to attack a few monikers on this board. They, just like the very ineffective and inefficient brewster need to try to pig-pile and end up tripping all over themselves. These kelly leekers…dereks…d_a_c-offs…and tex-types…and a few other non-descript brewster apologists bring so much trash and lack of class with their posts. They fake holes in their head…fatal car crashes and who knows what else.
Once again I will remind everyopne that the only thing that matters for this brewster’s chances of survival as the gm/recruiter at the University of Minnesota in the football program is IF he can win ENOUGH Big Ten games during the 21009 and 2010 seasons. He has to win Big Ten games and he needs to win them during the 2009 season…about 5 Big Ten wins in 2009 and about 5 Big Ten wins in 2010 will be the only thing that will save him.
Teams on the schedule for the 2011 season are already beginning to pencil in a new head gm/recruiter or hopefully a new real, honest to goodness COACH for the 2011 season. Time will tell. Maybe this brewster can win at least 10 Big Ten games during the next two seasons and will defy all logic and all odds… ; 0 )
Note: the term obserbation should have read observation…but…now that I think about it, since a portion of the post addressed the brewster apologists, it was an obserbation just as much as it was an observation. When dealing with brewster apologists, the “bation” part (as in pro-BATION…and other other thypes of “bation” really is quite fitting for them… .* 0 )
goldohfour: hockey is tanking, wrestling is not what it once was. Big Ten Hoops is very tough (witness the slide the hoopsters have been experiencing…) The close of the 2008 season…the five game slide didn’t look too promising for a super-high finish in Big Ten play for the gootball gm/recruiter. How will the golf team be? The gymnastics team? Track and Field? Cross-Country? Swimming?
I don’t know goldohfour: I sure wish you had some credibility to be able to make that kind of claim. But, I am old school and you will have to SHOW me! I like Big Ten wins more than anything else. Show me Big Ten wins in all those sports (WCHA in hockey) Then we’ll talk.
Of course, I’m no Masonite. Heck, he hasn’t been around here for a long time. That crack administrative team let his contract run down to nothing, ruining about 3 years worth of recruiting classes, then at the last minute they signed him long term, he helped get the stadium deal done, then the next year they bought him out. The whole deal cost them more than four or five million extra dollars (between the fiscally irresponsible deal they cut Monson and Mason…)
I think this macturi needs to be thrown out on his back side into a cold snow bank so that he can’t screw up any more hiring deals. I don’t care who the heck he fires…but…he certainly did mess up that football hire.
Tubby is great and he is getting earning somewhere between two and three million a year. I’m glad he’s here, but he isn’t in a position to win a Big Ten Championship next year though. Borton was extended while she still had two or three years left….wow…her team tanked pretty much this year. Thankfully this prexy b has finally put the ka-bosh on more contract extensions for a while. macturi can’t be trusted. macturi is hopeless. Ditch this macturi now!
Welcome aboard Mr Lewis! Quality DB prospect from Chicago. Ofcourse he’s black and runs a 4.4 forty so Loon will have some racist comment shortly I’m sure.

EVER WONDER WHAT COACH WONDERFUL WAS THINKING WHEN HE NAMED KEVIN COSGROVE AND RON LEE CO-DC’S? WORD HAS IT THESE TWO HAD TO BE SEPARATED AFTER A MEETING GREW HEATED LAST WEEK. NOT WHAT YOU WANT TO SEE WITH AN ALREADY UNSTABLE AND UNTRIED COACHING STAFF!
