Digital disruptions

Do you have a co-worker or manager that is constantly disrupting meetings or not fully attentive because of frequent phone calls, text messages, or e-mail messages? How do you deal with these disruptions? Where do you draw the line? And do you confront the culprits?

My previous manager was that way, and it was annoying because every time she received a message on her blackberry I felt like I had to stop saying whatever it was I was speaking about until she was ready to proceed. Talk about technology getting in the way of getting work done!

Sometimes I think less gets done in the workplace because of how easily tasks get lost in the shuffle with emails, texts, etc…

As far as co-workers always being disruptive with their phones, I wonder if it would help companies to create a general “code of digital ethics”!?

A code of ethics would be nice - first rule - no playing with digital gadgets if you are conversing with another person!
