Minnpost makes full-time hire

David Brauer, who has been freelancing for Minnpost.com, will become the website’s second full-time writer, according to managing editor Roger Buoen. The other full-timer is Eric Black.
“We got a lot of feedback from readers who like his work,” Buoen said. “Media and public affairs are a big focus for us and that’s why we have Eric and David. Plus, they’re very strong journalists.”
The move underlines the strategy that Minnpost seemed to have from the start: Use a bunch of talented freelancers at minimal pay, see which get the most response and then bring them on full time. At some point, the site will have to hire more top journalists at decent pay. Brauer is a good second step in that process.
