I guess it was inevitable that David Archuleta and David Cook would end up in tonight’s final battle. It’s also too bad. Archuleta has a great voice - maybe the best purest voice to ever be discovered on “Idol” - but he’s B-O-R-I-N-G. I’d rather see “High School Musical” for the 45th time than watch him in concert.

Cook gets a lot of credit for reworking songs - credit he really doesn’t deserve. His most outstanding moments have been covering OTHER people’s covers of hits. For example, he didn’t reinvent “Billie Jean.” He just mimicked Chris Cornell’s version of the song.

I would have been much more excited if one of my two favorite semi-finalists - Shikezie or Syesha - would have challenged one of the boys. But it was not to be.

My “Idol” partner Randy Salas picks Cook as the big winner. I think it’s gonna be Archuleta. A lot will depend on tonight’s song choices. We’ll give our thoughts minutes after tonight’s battle. But it’s never too early for you to weigh in….
