Oh, what a beautiful morning for MPR’s last “Morning Show”

Jim Ed Poole and Dale Connelly waved goodbye in style Thursday morning as they broadcast their last edition of “The Morning Show” with a celebrity lineup, free coffee and a standing-room only crowd.
They were a lot smarter and better prepared then I was. I decided, at 5:45 a.m., that it would be a dandy idea to walk from my house to the Fitzgerald for the taping. Note to self: It’s cold before the sun comes up. The good spirits of the crowd (more than 200 waited outside for seats to empty so they could get in) and the great lineup dashed my grumpiness. Here’s a set lineup for those who couldn’t make it or didn’t hear the broadcast this morning:
“Nature Boy” (Connie Evingson and Dan Chouinard)
“Getting to Know You” (Evingson and Chouinard)
“Traveller” (The Jerry Rau Band)
Some song about falling in love with a Cajun girl for Texas(?) Don’t know the title (Jerry Rau)
“When You Were Here” (Ann Reed) written exclusively for the event
“The Fair” (Ann Reed)
“Cuppa Java Size of My Head” (Dan Newton)
Instrumental (Dan Newton)
“Jackrabbit Blues” (The Brass Kings)
“When the Springtime Comes” (The Brass Kings)
“Up a Lazy River” (Prudence Johnson and Chouinard)
“Restless Farewell”( Johnson and Chouinard) First time Prudence has covered the Bob Dylan classic
“Long Time Gone” (Greg Brown) tweaks the lyrics of the CSN number to commemorate the event
“The Joy That is You” (Neal & Leandra) New song written for the event
“Rich” (Neal & Leandra)
Instrumental (Chouinard)
“Heaven Help Us All” (The Steeles)
“The Rock” (The Steeles)
“Holy Now” (Peter Mayer)
“Singing a Song” (Mayer and Neal & Leandra) Not sure if that’s the title. New song written for the occasion
“Bonaparte Crossing the Alps” (Peter Ostroushko)
“You Are My Sunshine” (Ostroushko)
“Solace” (Chouinard) The Scott Joplin classic
“End of the World” (Neal & Leandra)
“If I Had Known” (Greg Brown)
