Holiday greetings from Jimmy Kimmel
Posted on December 17th, 2008 – 2:51 PMBy Neal Justin
I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Jimmy Kimmel for a number of years, dating back to when he was playing sidekick on Comedy Central’s “Win Ben Stein’s Money.” During that show’s sort-lived, but highly entertaining run, I had the chance to have dinner with Stein, a date that was most memorable because my guest, a huge Dylan fan, gave me the original acoustic recording of “Blood on the Tracks,” and also because I got the chance to meet Jimmy. We stayed in touch over the years, through “The Man Show” and “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” and he’s always been gracious with his time, including appearing a couple times as a guest when I’ve filled in as a radio host. (For one appearance, he called in during the holidays from his mother’s pantry) But his greatest gift came this morning. When “Kimmel Live” started, I told him how much I enjoyed the pieces filed by the Cosme family, a strange clan that makes “The Beverly Hillbillies” look like the Trumps. While most viewers probably have long forgotten these guys, Jimmy never forgot how much I adored these guys. As my Xmas gift, he sent me footage of the Cosmes’ appearances. With his permission, I share them with you. They’ll make your day…
