We have it on good authority that Dark Star, a WCCO radio personality since 1986, has been suspended without pay for a week after the “F” bomb was dropped during his pro football picks last Thursday. Others involved in the show may have also been suspended. At this point, we’ve gotten a no comment from Star and WCCO’s general manager, Mick Anselmo. We’re still tracking…

UPDATE: It appears that the suspension started last Friday. Star’s boss Wendy Paulson says that he’ll be back on the air this Sunday. She wouldn’t comment further.

this is the most attention CCO has gotten in a long time. Dark and Tafoya are the only two on that entire station that were worth listening to for more than 5 minutes… of course Tafoya is a former KFAN employee… Looks like Mick’s going to have to look at getting Chad Hartmann and Doogie now because of big bad Dark Starr and his foul mouth… ugh.

Dark Starr deserves being fired! His schtick is getting old and tired. WCCO radio needs better talent and Dark Starr has never cut it as far as I am concerned. Mike Max also needs to get axed. I am tired of WCCO radio and the ratings seem to reflect this. When will Mick do something other than move Shelby around and allow John Hines to stumble around trying to be a talk show host. What ‘CCO needs is someone to bring something new to the microphone table. But, ‘CCO continues to hang on to a format that keeps dying in the ratings book. It’s time for Sid to step-down and Chad to take over. It’s time for ‘CCO to do something fresh. Dark Starr is stale. The whole ‘CCO format is stale–Susie Jones–PLEASE get rid of her! Why ‘CCO did not let this jerk go is beyond me. This was ‘CCO’s chance to cut Starr and find someone with some real credibility to talk sports. What a shame ‘CCO did not have the guts and creativity to do something fresh and new. No wonder people don’t look to the good neighbor anymore for anything. The overnight situation is a real mess. No time and temperture updates, no severe weather presence, no real news updates (the same tape of news over-and-over again). Mick, do something fresh and new to the old tired neighbor. How about the Twins, Vikes, Gophers, Wild, and the Timberwolves rights? Not having the contracts for big sports has really tarnished ‘CCO across the demographic board.
