On deck: A week on mine

I’m taking next week off. My parents are visiting me for a few days (who am I kidding– they’re visiting the grandkids). We’re building a sandbox for Charlotte. And I swear I am going to finally write a will.

What’s the hold up? For nearly three years Matt and I have been trying to figure out who to name as guardian. The problem isn’t that we both feel strongly about different people. It’s that neither of us feels strongly enough about anyone.

There are a handful of friends and relatives who would do a bang up job (hmm…wording…maybe I’m on vacation already) raising our kids. Like my parents, for example. But would it be fair to expect them to raise two small children, completely altering their retirement plans? Or ask my sister, who is on the fence about having kids at all? Or Matt’s brother, who just had a kid of his own? Or our friends who say they want just one child? Or our single friend?

How did any of you make this tough choice?

I doubt I’ll post while I’m off. If you need a fix, try www.pfblogs.org .

Happy 4th!
