For those of you who aren’t sure if you’re receiving a rebate or exactly how much to expect, here’s a handy tax rebate calculator from Kiplinger’s.

And if you’ve forgotten about when approximately your pay day is, check out the following IRS chart. They’re about a week ahead of schedule, I believe:

Stimulus Payment Schedule for Tax Returns
Received and Processed by April 15

Direct Deposit Payments
If the last two digits of your Social Security number are: Your economic stimulus payment deposit should be sent to your bank account by:
00 – 20 May 2
21 – 75 May 9
76 – 99 May 16
Paper Check
If the last two digits of your Social Security number are: Your check should be in the mail by:
00 – 09 May 16
10 – 18 May 23
19 – 25 May 30
26 – 38 June 6
39 – 51 June 13
52 – 63 June 20
64 – 75 June 27
76 – 87 July 4
88 – 99 July 11

Remember, you have to have filed your tax return to get a payment. If you’re late, it will take about six weeks from when you file to get your payment in hand, or later if you aren’t direct depositing.

The official IRS rebate calculator put our rebate at $1,706, about what I expected. But the Treasury deposited just $1,106 this week, without explanation. I guess I’ll be calling the IRS.

Kara,
Not sure if you’ve already covered, but I just noticed that the IRS added a “Where’s My Stimulus Payment” tool to their Web site. Very cool - it let’s you see the exact day they’re planning to deposit your rebate.

Am I the only one in America who questions the wisdom of this giveaway? The federal government adding $120 billion to the deficit at a time when the deficit is out of control. The larger federal budget deficit drives the decline in the value of the dollar, which leads to increases in the dollar prices of commodities, especially oil. Effectively, what is being done here is the government printing more money and further devaluing the dollar.

I agree that they would have been better off not sending checks. The other issue is that people think they’re getting the full amount and they aren’t. So how many people went and spent $1,200 and now are only getting $600?

I think it is the most dumb thing they could of ever done! Boost the Economy! What a Joke~!

FYI:By the way it looks like people who filed through a Turbo Tax and had the fee taken out of there money coming back get a paper check even if they had there money direct deposited! So people who were suppose to get it on May 2nd will not be mailed out until May 16th or so!!!!
