Ditto, grond ... there's a reason that the Whistleblower comments are now moderated - they view him as a troll. :-)

Kate: Why so serious?

rbj: And of course, there's the joke about the blind men trying to identify an elephant. "I think it's a snake!" "Me too!"

OP: "two tickets...la BOWHEEM?" "La bo-HEM. It's an opera."

That's no elephant, I'm just happy to see you.

What? Someone had to say it.

Well put. Relax, smile. Lileks land is civil and laid back. We may disagree, but we can all have fun (and I think very highly of Denver - I know a lot of smart people there)

Hi Kate,

I think, deep down, we take it seriously too and just find a little humor here and there. When you actually think about the fact that our country has a peaceful change of power every four to eight years, it is a pretty momentous occasion.

Those of us who follow Lileks tend to have a certain joie de vivre, if you will.

Not a single person who reads this will take that photo seriously or think it is representative of Denver. : ) I didn't.

And there are enough serious issues we will be facing in the next few months to last us many, many years.

A little humor never hurts ; )

Good for you, Kate. Unshakeable earnestness in the face of a silly joke on a strip club sign is a definite sign of high-browedness.

You'll just have to trust me that most of Denver on average is a bit higher brow than both the Boheme and Wally there, above.

Some of us actually take this stuff seriously! (Despite appearances to the contrary).

Oh! Now I get it! I couldn't understand the sign until I read the comments above. I didn't read the second and third lines as a question, or even a separate sentence. I thought they comprised an adjective clause modifying "democrats." Kinda puzzled me.

LOLOL : D

Gotta admit, that's pretty clever! I wonder how much they paid Bill Clinton to come up with it?

Sorry, I could not resist. [/redface]
