Joe Mauer has hit a three-run opposite field homer. Matt Garza looked good. Scott Baker didn’t. We’re tied 4-4 in the bottom of the eighth. Check here tomorrow for a recap and observations…..

Matt Garza looked good! He shoud not go to the minors.
Garza is going to make the show and will be with the team for many years.
Glen Perkins won’t join the team until September as a middle reliver.
In my uninformed early season opinion the starting rotation should look like so:
Santana
Boof
Silva
Garza
Ortiz
4-4 final in 10. Peculiar…
Thats too bad for Scot Baker. Of all of last years starters, he may have the most to prove. Silva has a history of knowing how to pitch. That helps him. Baker has the stuff, but simply no history or consitancy.
Garza seems like a smart young pitcher who has enough command of some pretty dominant stuff to get hitters out. Just two innings under his belt, but he seems to understand what the Twins want him to do. Trust his stuff, pitch low in the zone and attack the hitters. I think he’ll leave camp in the starting rotation behind Ortiz, Boof, Silva and some other guy. Hmm, what is that guy’s name? Johan!
I like Garza a lot, but I have to be careful in praising him and putting him in the rotation after one outing. The pitchers are usually ahead of the hitters in ST. Lets see how he performs later this month when he stretches out to 5 innings.
