Gardy and Andy are mad at the Gophers….

…bowling team, that is.

Instead of going over baseball stuff before the game with the Yankees, Gardy and Rick Anderson cried injustice over events at West Side Lanes in St. Paul on Wednesday.

Both bowl during the offseason on teams in a league there, called Twins 1 and Twins 2. Twins 2 was in a championship game of a tournament there, against a team called the Gophers.

Twins 2 believed it had won by a pin, but the Gophers called for a recount of the scoring (who does that?). The recount discovered that the game ended in a tie. A one-frame bowl-off was required. A Twins 2 bowler threw a strike to start it off, but it was waved off because the Gophers weren’t ready.

The Gophers then won the bowl-off -  by a pin.

The Twins’ manager and pitching coach were steamed as they relayed the story on Thursday.

“The Gophers are cheaters,” Anderson said.

“Unbelievable,” the manager said.

A part-time bowler myself, I was dismayed at what I heard. I was moved to write this because of the injustice. I have no hidden agenda here. (Your boys were robbed Gardy!)

Because of this story, Gophers are dead to me.
