Twins outfielder Torii Hunter was struck in the head with a 1-2 pitch from Cincinnati righthander Kyle Lohse in the first inning of Friday’s spring training game.
The pitch hit Hunter in the back left side of the head. Hunter fell to ground in front of home plate and rolled over on his back as the Twins medical staff, manager Ron Gardenhire and Lohse went to the plate. Hunter was up after a couple minutes but looked woozy as he was led off the field.
Hunter never lost consciousness, remained alert and the Twins just announced that there are no signs of a concussion.
Hunter was replaced by Jason Tyner. Lohse, who was clearly worried about Hunter, was replaced by Brian Meadows. It was later announced that Lohse had a mild right hamstring strain.
