A couple things to note off of Tuesday’s win as we head into Wednesday’s Twins-White Sox game.
Righthander Boof Bonser was in the middle of his best outing of the season when he threw wildly to third in the sixth inning, setting up a three-run burst by the White Sox.
Twins manager Ron Gardenhire has seen enough, Bonser, Sidney Ponson and Ramon Ortiz all have made throwing errors in the last week, so Gardenhire plans on scrapping pitchers batting practice today (interleague games are coming) and will have pitchers fielding practice today, “and try to get some of this stuff straightened out.” Gardenhire said.
Bonser was only charged one earned run and now has a 3.96 ERA. He was upset about his throwing error, but said he can take a lot out of his outing. He threw more strikes and really used his curveball effectively. He struck out A.J. and Iguchi looking with curveballs to get out of a two-on, one-out mess in the fourth.
“Everything came together except that one play,” Bonser said.
Let’s see how far he runs with his outing….
