Twins: 1. Luis Castillo, 2B. 2. Bartlett, SS. 3. Redmond, C. 4. Cuddyer, RF. 5. Morneau, 1B. 6. Hunter, CF. 7. Cirillo, DH. 8. Ford, LF. 9. Punto, 3B. Pitching: Bonser.

White Sox: 1. Owens, CF. 2. Iguchi, 2B. 3. Thome, DH. 4. Konerko, 1B. 5. A.J., C. 6. Fields, 3B. 7. Mackowiak, LF. 8. Terrero, RF. 9. Uribe, SS. Pitching: Buehrle.

Explanation: Gardy was determined to give Mauer a day off after catching practically two games on Friday.

Ford is 14 for 42 (.333) against Buehrle.

Cirillo is 3 for 8 (.375) against Buehrle.

Redmond is 7 for 16 (.438) against Buehrle – as well as a gamer.

Mauer is 1 for 12 against Buehrle, another reason for a day off.

Dye was a late scratch for the White Sox. Don’t know why yet.
