Twins-White Sox: [UPDATE] Sorry for the brief post

I meant to present a more detailed lineup, but I was fighting back spasms and couldn’t take it anymore. They began yesterday, continued today and went to another level once I got to the press box.

But here’s another example why the Twins are respected around the league. I was headed to first aid to lay down for awhile (that’s how much pain I was in). Bill Smith saw me hobbling through the concourse and redirected me to his office, where he gave me some medication and sat with me until I felt better.

My back muscles are still biting, but not nearly as much as an hour ago.

Pat Neshek will be shut down for the rest of the season because of weakness in his shoulder that has led to an inflamed ligament near his elbow.

Rondell White is with his wife, Zanovia, who gave birth to the couple’s first child sometime this morning.

Lineups

White Sox: 1. Owens, CF. 2. Fields, LF. 3. Thome, DH. 4. Konerko, 1B. 5.  Erstad, RF. 6. A.J., C. 7. Uribe, SS. 8. Richar, 2B. 9. Gonzalez, 3B. Pitching: Vazquez.

Twins: 1. Tyner, LF. 2. Kubel, DH, 3. Hunter, CF. 4. Morneau, 1B. 5. Cuddyer, RF. 6. Buscher, 3B. 7. Heintz, C. 8. L-Rod, 2B, 9. Punto, SS. Pitching: Baker

I guess Casilla overslept again.

I wonder why they even played Mauer last night the way he was running the bases. Why take a chance of hurting him even more shut him down for the year as well

Yeah, why doesn’t he get any chances to play. Playing one time every week isn’t going to help him…

It’s pretty obvious that people are going to whine until Casilla plays all 162 games in a season. He DID play last night, so he’s not playing today with the early start. What is the big deal? Everyone reads way too much into every little lineup decision.

I think the belief among many Twins fan is with Casilla is that the Twins dumped Castillo for basically nothing with the idea that Casilla should be playing full-time. He has not and the question is why not? And the fact that Punto continues to play on a regular basis irritates many fans as well.

Casilla’s 23 years old, he can play a day game after a night game, especially when he had about 20 days off before that. He’s not playing today because he has struggled to hit right-handed pitching and Gardy hasn’t been putting him in the lineup against RHP lately.

I know that Casilla is naive sometimes on the base paths. But it looks like Buscher is worse. What an idiot trying to advance to 3rd with the play in left right in front of him.

Now Buscher waves at strike 3. Totally overmatched.

Need to go out and get a 3B next year. And a CF and DH.

It’ll definitely be the Smith era, immediately.

I wish I had that three hours of my life back. I don’t think Bert ever mentioned that Boof pitched from the stretch his entire relief appearence. I know he had runners on base often, but that seemed strange since he is
really a starting pitcher.

Does anyone know why the Twins played some Saturday morning games in September back at the Met? Was the reason so there games didn’t conflict with Saturday afternoon Gopher football games at Memorial Stadium?

La Velle, I have a question if you have time…

There are numerous reports that ESPN has said that Johan is close to a deal with the Twins.

Is there any truth to this? Even if they are just talking right now?

Where are these reports? Links please?

I wonder why they even played Mauer last night the way he was running the bases.

If they hadn’t, would the complaints about the lineup have changed any? Because then it’s Heintz behind the plate.

there are no reports that say this. let’s quit making things up. thank you.

On Pardon The Interruption Thursday, they mentioned that Johan was close to buying a house in Eden Prairie, and some people are interpreting that as he’s signing. *rolleyes*

So the Twins coaching staff will return next year. I fully appreciate all the hard work by the staff to right the ship on this very disappointing season. For six months the team has been inconsistant hitting in the clutch and scoring runs. Offensive inconsistancy has been the only thing consistant. It’s time for Joe Vavra to go. A new approach is needed. Perhaps he would be a good fit with another organization. I wish him all the best. What are your thoughts on Joe Vavra?
