The Twins on Thursday announced that Brian Buscher has been named the organization’s minor league player of the year. Buscher opened the season at Class AA New Britain but made his way to the majors, where he batted .244 with 2 homers and 10 RBI in 33 games.

The Twins also named Kevin Slowey minor league pitcher of the year. Slowey dominated at Class AAA Rochester then went 4-1, 4.73 in 13 games (11 starts) with the Twins.

Slowey is a quality prospect, but it says a lot about your organization when your best position prospect was a Rule 5 pick up who rolled in the first year and wins an award - or maybe the Twins have found something here. (Photos courtesy of the Washington Post and USA Today).
