It’s Just A Matter Of Time…
Posted on February 28th, 2008 – 10:18 AMBy La Velle
Pulled into the media lot at Ed Smith Stadium and was directed to a spot next to a white van - behind the Reds bullpen that’s right behind the right field wall and near the foul pole.
I’m done. Ken Griffey, Jr. and Adam Dunn are not in the lineup today. Jay Bruce and Joey Votto are. But HOW is my rental car going to survive batting practice? One deep drive down the line and I’m going to need a new ride.
The Twins have Mauer, Kubel and Garrett Jones for lefty hitters. I’m not worried about Jones because he rarely pulls the ball down the line….
I posted the Twins lineup yesterday. Here’s the Reds lineup:
1. Norris Hopper, CF. 2 Ryan Freel, LF. 3. Brandon Phillips. 2B. 4. Edwin Encarnacion. 5. Jay Bruce, RF. 6.Andy Phillips, 1B. 7. Juan Castro, SS. 8. Javier Valentin, C. 9. Joey Votto. P Matt Belisle.

game on
Is that the same Castro who was with the Twins? Just wondering. Maybe he can do better with the Reds?
Yes, it’s the same Juan Castro. He’ll always just be him. Not a bat that the Twins so desparetely needed in the middle infield. Have to have some pop in the middle infield to compete in the American League.
The twins traded Juan Castro to the Reds just after inserting Bartlett as the starting shortstop a couple of years ago. I believe that we received a minor league outfielder. Castro is being used as a utility player for the Reds.
I wouldn’t be to worried about Mauer crushing that windshield either!
what does everyone think about nick blackburn
La Velle, when is the last time Mauer pulled a looong home run right down the line? Your vehicle should be safe when Joe is up to bat. “Don’t worry, be happy”, enjoy the best day of the year. The first spring training game of the year!!!! Meanwhile, I have to go shovel about 3 inches of new snow. Look forward to your post-game article.
Blackburn’s like Baker. Needs the confidence to pitch well. So when he goes against the Royals of the league, he’ll look good. But get him against a powerhouse team, or even a mediocre one, he might struggle.
LaVelle, let us know what you think of Jay Bruce and Joey Votto. Those are two that I think could mess up your rental car!!
Tim E.- Baker sure doesn’t struggle against the mighty Yankees.
I agree with you Seth. The Reds have some great young talent. If their GM would quit giving out ridiculous contracts to closers they could be a really good team in a couple of seasons. Plus they should have some salary flexibility with Griffey coming off the books soon.
Don’t rule out Matt Belisle…that guy’s got awesome opposite field power.
I was just reading bout the latest installment in the Roger saga. Congress has asked the Dept of Justice to look into the truthfulness of his deposition and hearing testimony. If he is indicted for perjury and goes to trial the truth will come out. I fully expect Macnamee, Pettite, the little boy with the photo of him at Cosenco’s party Roger said he was not at, his nanny who puts him his wife and kids there, and the federal agents who lead the investigation of PED’s in baseball and possibly even Mitchel and his henchmen to all do serious jailtime for “setting poor Roger up”.
LENIII-
Just be thankful the Twins let Tyner go. Who knows what kind of damage that guy would have inflicted on your car.
Lavelle - YOU ROCK!!!
Let’s hope you checked that box that says “Yes” next to the word INSURANCE
I agree with Seth too.
am just thankful that the financially ailing Strib A) allows travel to spring training, b)buys you a laptop, and c)rents you a car. It would be difficult taking a Greyhound to road games.
is this game on the radio
if it is i cant find it
anyone know whats with mlb.audio….this game should be on the radio somewhere, someway i believe…
I was worried for a second that you were being sincere.
You can go to Yahoo, and see the play by play, if anyone cares.
The game should be on the radio–the normal Twins station (see the Twins site). However, gameday audio at mlb.com is down right now, so I can’t listen (no radio reception in the building I work).
Yeah…. mlb Gameday Audio is having some issues.
Why are they doing maintenance during spring training baseball prime time?!?!?!
AM 1500
Is every ST game going to be on the radio? That would be very good.
Spring training radio broadcast schedule:
no score after 1 1/2…Kubel/monroe back/back hits to start the second. Jones ended the inning with a double play grounder.
26 of 31 ST games on the radio.
If you keep clicking the “TRN” link on Gameday Audio, eventually it will open. Only took me 30 minutes…
1st/3rd no out, Castro up for Reds.
one down on shallow popfly to right. Javy Valentin up, 0-2 count.
THANK YOU Funkytown! I’m at work - no radios allowed.
6-4-3 double play…Casilla/Harris/Jones…2nd over
gameday audio now working…i just kept clicking on trn and finally on the 4th time it kicked in…baseball is back…top of 3rd 0-0
Here is live boxscore:
http://mlb.mlb.com/news/boxscore.jsp?gid=2008_02_28_minmlb_cinmlb_1
Fogg fans 2 to start the 3rd.
Harris one-hopper to the mound. Top 3/over
Line on Baker: 2 innings, three hits, one strikeout. Matt Guerrier is in.
Radio said Baker was up a bit in the zone…what did u think??
2 comebackers to Guerrier, diving catch on looper by Gomez. 3rd over.
Carlos Gomez made the first nice play of spring, breaking back but recovering to make a nice diving catch of Ryan Freel’s pop fly.
Gomez came up a little gimpy after the play but eventually jogged in. Will check after the game to make sure he’s O.K. It didn’t look serious…may have just had some wind knocked out…
Mauer lines to lcenter/diving catch by Freel..Cuddyer base hit to RCenter..4th team hit of the day.
thx lavelle…thats what iwant to see/hear….
I really hope Gomez plays well this spring and gets the job…
Would everyone agree that there is no way the Twins can have both Gomez and Punto playing regularly together because of their offensive liability?
But is Gomez a natural lead off hitter? Just because you’re fast doesn’t mean he should be leading off.
Punto won’t play everday…
i am really pulling for monroe to put it together again… i hated him as a tiger…lets just see that again from him now…what an addition that would be…..
Gomez has a lot to do offensivley, but he is 22, is possibly the fastest player in the majors and has a good glove.
He can bunt too…
Now that there’s more people on here I want some opinions on this. I’ve seen a few places people mention leaving Gomez down in AAA and possibly having a Pridie/Monroe platoon for CF. I scoffed a bit at first but then started to like it. Not only would we give Gomez time to season he also wouldn’t use up as much eligibility if we left him down for half a season. PLUS and a big plus is that if Monroe is playing CF and backing up corner infield spots then he shouldn’t be taking AB’s away from Kubel at DH as much.
I’m all for letting it play out and giving it to whoever has the best spring (gomez, pridie, span) but I just thought this was an interesting idea and was wondering what others thought.
and who is to say that Gomez will be a liability hitting. We really have not seen that much of him.
Neshek in….
The main thing with me is that I just can’t myself to accept Gomez in the minors. I want to see this kid everyday.
I agree about Monroe. I hope this turns into a really good move and he hits lights out like 2006.
halfchest
I kinda like that idea if it gives Kubel some more ABs.
Edwin Encarnacion just doubled: “It wouldn’t be a Twins-Reds game without a double from him,” Joe C. says.
im all for letting gomez mature in AAA and let gardy have a nice platoon with pridie monroe kubel– we have a nice situation with alot of talent–more than i remember in recent years..and gardy is great at maneuvering players and giving guys days off etc…i think thats very important..same thing in the infield with punto, he can spell guys all the time and still everyone will get their at bats…looks like buscher is on his way also…some good players will have to settle for AAA
LaVelle:
Who would you have preferred:
Josh Fogg or Livan?
its going to be so nice to have a solid bench…just think back to last year…we didnt have much and i remember games where is was just so sad- no one to turn to…luis r??? thats my point…
4th over..fly out to LF and grounder to Casilla
halfchest,
I agree on almost all of your points.
I even agree that the CF with the best ST should get the first shot.
The problem with that reasoning (yours and mine) is that ST is ST and may not transfer to regular season performance.
Span hit .267 in AAA last year.
If he is the frontrunner in ST, should he get the job?
I don’t have the answer to that question, but my gut says no.
I would prefer Monroe-Pridie until Gomez starts tearing up AAA.
I agree totally about the bench. We had no power threat off the bench either.
Now we’ll have Monroe, Punto is a solid option for defense late in a game, Remond is solid and then maybe Buscher as anotherp possible power option.
Much better than L-Rod and guys like that…
lamb is just a stud….
yah no doubt, it always sucked knowing Redmond was your only legit bench option in many games. I like that we’ll have Monroe a guy with some decent homerun potential sitting there to at least give us hope if Adam Everett comes up in a clutch situation
35-year old Jolbert Cabrera just entered the game for the Reds. I just got the pressbox rolling with the story of how Bob Casey once announced him as, `Hubert Caraba.’ Now we’re throwing out old Casey-isms…
the only spot i see a weakness is–who backs up morneau…if buscher is in AAA
With Pridie/Monroe who do you have in leadoff? Harris?
I think it’ll be Buscher because there is one open bench spot.
Otherwise probably Lamb with Punto going to 3B when he is over there.
Morneau shouldn’t need a lot of days off however.
Perkins in.
Morales catching, Knott in RF.
mj1,
Mike Lamb would be my guess.
Lamb plays first. I’d assume he’d be Morneau’s primary backup. Then Monroe maybe. Cuddy last of all.
Where did Knott (RF) come from? Is he a Minnesota boy?
Leadoff would be Pridie-Harris.
thx.. i forgot all about lamb..thats cool…i thought pridie was suited to lead off…
Is batting Mauer leadoff completely out of the question?
Knott is from the Orioles I think…
knott was with balt last year…dont know his home….mlb has a highlite of him homering last year…
Knott is a minor league power hitter.
Played at Mississippi State.
mauer doesnt have the speed you would like at leadoff…otherwise i think hed work
3-0 Reds on 3-run HR. Perkins 4 hits/3runs 1/3IP
perkins getting racked about
I know its early, but for a guy (Perkins) that has a good chance to get that ‘final’ bullpen spot, not a very good start…
Ouch, Perkins gettin’ tagged by some no-names.
I hope BC Benecke is okay……
Gordo says no velocity on his FB.
JT, Gardy said yesterday he was thinking of Mauer in the two hole.
Kubel lost the ball in the sun before the homer, and the homer was wind-aided - at least that’s what I was told because we were all in the clubhouse talking to Baker….
romer, heard the same thing on Perkins on the air. sounds like they were waiting for the BP heater.
3-0 after 5
do ya ever get the feeling that perkins is just one of those guys that just cant get over that hump..so close and yet…..i sure hope he does, because once he does i think things will be fine…..
Yeah probably the CF in the one and then after that he hinted at:
Mauer
Cuddyer
Morneau
Young
Baker reminded us about tough these first outings of spring are..
I wouldn’t worry about Perkins. Many were writing off Silva during ST last year but he came out and had a great year. Don’t hit the panic button yet guys.
I think if we had nothing else Mauer would be fine as a leadoff guy who moves decent on the basepaths and has a high OBP. However Gardy is stubborn as hell and has had enough trouble realizing he’d be great in the 2 hole. Baby steps gardy, baby steps.
twins baseball today….vikings free agents starts tonite….its a good day..life is good
I also like the idea of Pridie/Monroe combo in CF.Monroe brings good power against LHP.Pridie is a LHB and some have brought up the fact he hits well against RHP.Seems like a good fit.
Harris could leadoff against LHP.He has hit lights out against lefties. But, I think he should be dropped down in the lineup against RHP.Take a look at his RHP split:
2007:
379 AB .264/.317/.414
2005-07:
412 AB .260/.314/.403
His overall stats say he could hit high in the order. But his splits say only against LHP.
How did Tolbert score?
Ya have to agree with halfchest. Perk might be working on his breaking stuff and be doing more thinking than pitching.
He still has only pitched 30-some innings in the bigs.
Tolbert scored on throwing error by pitcher, Weathers.
Not sure… he didnt have a hit or BB, so he must have reached on an error.
5 hits in what, 7 innings for the Twins?
At least they don’t have 4 errors like the Reds.
Are the Twins going to give Casilla an oppertunity to be the SS of the future this year. I think he has the skills, just needs to get it together
any reason why morneausy isn’t playing in the first game?
obviously there’s plenty of time and you need to get everyone playing, but you’d think the first day you’d start your studs, unless you save half your “starters” for the end so you don’t get blown away when reserves come in.
Here’s what one scout said:
Baker - up in the zone. 88-90, touched 92
Perkins - bad command, bunch of 88’s, touched 90.
Neshek - nasty, ready for opening day..
romer, whats a halfchest
schedule, they don’t want to play their stars every day this early in ST. So they kind of split them up when they go on the road so at least there’s some of them for the fans every game.
If anyone was wondering, Jennie Finch was here to watch her husband pitch.
LEN:
WOO HOO!!! anyone get a photo?? ![]()
koreenieLou, maybe it’s something like a halfmoon.
Do you know anything about baseball!!??!!
romer, do you know anything about snow shovels? Randy wants to know….
Nobody’s thinking of snow shovels, we’re thinking about sunny Florida and the baseball there.
What’s wrong with that Randy guy anyway…
twins bats are pretty weak today…lots of popups…oh well ..game one…
My least favorite 2008 Denard Span quote:
“I definitely feel like one of the guys that’s been forgotten in this clubhouse.”
Span said. “I just feel like I’ve done everything I was supposed to do on my end of the bargain.”
How about hitting above .267 in AAA?
I guess he feels he isn’t being treated fairly.
How about taking some responsibility for having a bad year?
His numbers summarize his performance, but his words could do a better job of displaying strong character.
i was so hoping span would end up gone in some trade this spring…wish the twins just didnt have to deal with him at all….will keep hoping for a trade
“i was so hoping span would end up gone in some trade this spring…wish the twins just didnt have to deal with him at all….will keep hoping for a trade”
ya well if he goes we wont have a speedy no hitter in the organization…
well… i guess punto may qualify
Sid
That .267 is a little misleading. Span did hit over .300 the last month and a half of the season last year. I’m not saying he should start but he was progressing.
Span is not the answer, you know better than that jama.
5-1 Reds…Ricky Barrett laboring in the 8th inning.
jama, but that’s essentially what Span is intimating, that he should start cuz he did everything they asked.
jama,
I have less problem with the .267 average than I do with the quote.
“I just feel like I’ve done everything I was supposed to do on my end of the bargain.”
6-1 after 8…Macri booted a grounder to allow one more.
I know it’s early….but aren’t the Twins suppose to be built on defense and pitching? How many errors have they made?
Austin: What about Jama saying “I’m not saying he should start” would suggest that he thinks that Span is the answer?
How is the reading comprehension?
He just stated that he hit over .300 the second half. It is a true statement.
We have one error. Macri.
The reds have 4.
Reds 2 big hits.
Twins had squirt guns.
RyanW, all I said was that Span is not the answer, which is a true statement as well. Get over yourself.
CF Derby so far:
Monroe 1-3
Pridie 0-2 1K
Gomez 0-2 1K
Span DNP
Looks like my post about this got lost somewhere:
Mauer
Cuddyer
Morneau
Young
Switch up Young and Cuddyer. Morneau protects Young better than Young would protect Morneau. Especially since Mauer’s OBP would suggest that either he or the Twins leadoff guy would be on base when Young takes the plate.
With Morneau, Cuddy, and even Kubel behind him, Young would likely see far better pitching.
Now before anybody starts freaking out about the Twins losing today, will everybody take a step back to just realize that it is the first game in Spring Training against an actual major league team. These games are more about working out the kinks and getting everybody up to par and the young players to develop than the wins and losses.
will everybody take a step back to just realize that it is the first game in Spring Training against an actual major league team.
Absolutely not. The Santana trade was a flop, Pohlad’s a cheapskate, and Smith’s a moron. They need to get rid of Punto before he further ruins this team…and get Gardy out of there before he can make another lineup as lackluster as today’s joke of a card.
…
That should cover 90% of the possible comments following today’s game.
If Gomez plays well this spring i hope they keep him up here.Send him to the minors only if they think he needs the seasoning, not to set back the Super2 bit.
T, you hit it right on the head. Now all those people won’t have anything to post.
Austin: False.
You said: “Span is not the answer, you know better than that jama”
There are two clauses in your statement.
1. That Span is not the answer (which was not a reach since 99% of all posters on here agree with. It is akin to saying “I would rather date Jessica Alba than Rosie O’Donnell”)
2. Jama should know better than to suggest that Span is the answer. That is the part of your statement that isn’t true.
It is akin to saying “I would rather date Jessica Alba than Rosie O’Donnell”
Now let’s not get hasty here!
Wait, which one was the Invisible Woman again?
RyanW,
I like how you are willing to agree with the part of my post about Span. Having said that though, if you have listened to jama on here often enough you would realize that he should indeed know better. Nice try though.
Austin, the Twins are an “actual” major league team too. Apparently the Reds have more of their kinks worked out.
For instance, no extra-base hits for Gardy’s crew today.
This is the best blog ever not only do your comments have to be statistically accurate they have to be grammatically correct and have the proper punctuation or you ripped as an idiot. I would hate to be in the bar talking baseball with some of you i’m afraid i would kill you.
I have three words for the bloggers:
ONE DATA POINT!
romer, are you seriously telling me that you think the FIRST game of spring training sets the tone for the entire regular season. Enough said.
Being facutally and logically correct is an expectation on here, if you decide to do otherwise, expect to be called out on it.
RyanW,
You are setting the bas WAY TOO HIGH!
I can’t deal with that kind of pressure!
I’m getting dizzy…
Uh………..
RyanW
They may list the Twins with 1 error but Kubel supposedly lost one in the sun and Harris pulled Jones off the bag on a would be double play. I count that as 3 fielding errors.
And I never said I thought Span was the answer. What I said was the .267 BA last season is misleading because he hit over .300 the last 2 months of the year. I’m not expecting him to get out of AAA this year.
Hey, I am just saying if you are going to make statements on here (especially if you are ripping someone like Austin was) make sure they are logical. If they aren’t, dont get defensive when someone points it out. That is how arguemnts progress, otherwise we would just spout whatever comes to our head…
Sorry, I see you were agreeing with me.
Either way the chances of Span starting the year in the Bigs is about 5%.
RyanW, if you knew anything about the past on this blog at all, you would realize that I wasn’t trying to make jama mad. I was in fact giving him credit for being smarter than that.
len3 see if smith will offer finch a pitching spot on the team, be great to team up with neshek. help attendance to.
I hear you RyanW. Don’t have to get too picky though.
Austin’s “all I said” statement was false. I’m glad you called him out on it.
So Austin has already lectured two bloggers and told them what to do (”you know bettter” & “Get over yourself”). It’s only the first game of ST, Austin.
Maybe BC of ND and Austin need to get over themselves. Let me know which bar you’re at, and I’ll go to the other one.
At least Pohlad, BS, Gardy and the coaches are not taking a post-game beating yet.
good one.
I’m a Span fan, well as a 4th OF at least. He was only 23 last year, he could get better and I understand he’s already a pretty decent defender. He’s got ok base stealing ability and can play all three outfield positions as a backup. I’d be alright with him as a faster Jason Tyner.
That said I think Pridie is basically the same guy. So I’m glad to have them both here and not out of options so we can see who develops better in their age 24 year. My money’s on Pridie
If Nick Punto would have played today, he would have turned the double play unassisted, hit five inside the park homeruns on infield squibbers with his hustle, and beat macri and kubel to the balls they flubbed.
Not to mention robbed the HR with and unbelievable jumb from the infield dirt
Everyone is beating the other bloggers up, so much frustration over games that no one will remember in a month
Let’s say that hitting over .300 in the last half of the season provides hope…for Span anyways. He believes that he has turned the corner. We will see.
On the other side of the coin is that it’s only a 1/2 a season and statistically that’s a small sample…even a year can be misleading.I like to see a couple years of consistent performance.
romer, quit treating the first game of spring training like it counts in the standings.
Romer
Since i’m a blue collar guy you won’t have to worry about me hanging out with you and your frat brothers. All i was saying is everyone has a right to there opinion and should be able to post a comment without being scrutinized by people like you. We all may not be Ivy league grads but it doesn’t make us stupid.
No one beside the big leaguers got a hit today. Thats where the Twins need their help.
I wasn’t doing that either, Austin.
Quit telling me what to do. Go have a drink.
Reds second team killed the ball, they do have the deepest farm in MLB
In Span’s defense:
Sometimes quotes to the media are not even close to what the speaker actually meant.
Especially if the reporter had an agenda going into the interview.
They may list the Twins with 1 error but Kubel supposedly lost one in the sun and Harris pulled Jones off the bag on a would be double play. I count that as 3 fielding errors.
Kubel losing one in the sun is a bummer (hopefully they adjust before 2010), but if he turns into the full time DH and emergency OF then I’m less concerned.
Harris/Jones miffing on a DP attempt is a bit of a bummer. But some of that could be the two adjusting to each other. (Remember when Castro, Punto, and Castillo became the Flying Circus?)
Being facutally and logically correct is an expectation on here
You apparently don’t read half the posts around these parts…do you?
Stop it! Your confusing me. At first I was heading out to the ledge. Then you talked me back from the ledge. Then I started to run back out. I think were OK now…it’s only the first game.Whew,LOL.
T- when I say it is an expectation, I mean that if you say something stupid, expect people to call you out.
BC, I’m definitely not a frat boy. No college degree either. I hang at a 3-2 joint.
Austin lied about what he said.
And now he’s lying about what I said.
This ain’t “opinion”. He needs to settle down, or people will challenge him like they did Craig.
And bossing people around ain’t “opinion” either.
And eventually ignore him.
“RyanW, if you knew anything about the past on this blog at all…”
In fact I do know a lot about the past as I have been posting for over a year (first as Ryan, now as RyanW). We missed your impulsive rants this winter Austin…
I still would like our journalists at the Strib to start asking the critical questions, instead of writing bogus feature pieces on how LNP’s grit and hustle will earn him the second base job and, prepare to gasp, the lead-off spot in the lineup (Homer of the Month coming for that one, Souhan!)…
Specifically,
Will Cuddy’s production continue to drop now that he got paid (he still only has one good year–2006)
Are they seriously going to continue batting Mauer No. 3?
Are they seriously looking at Scott Baker as their ace?
Most importantly–which of these newcomers are going most significantly help baseball’s worst offense?
I noted no extra-base hits and LNP4Life noted the deep Reds farm system. Thanks.
Maybe we trade Rincon to the Reds.
And thanks Sid, maybe it was a misquote and this is all wasted time. I’m for Span as much as the other 2.
I missed Austin too. His game-time posts remind me of when I was a kid and watched town-team BB.
I just wanna have fun. I don’t like sophistry. And I wish I were rich so I could buy the MLB ST broadcasts of the Twins. It was kind of boring listening to G&G on the radio.
Anyone know where there’s a box score?
Critical Questions? Critical questions like:
“Will Cuddy’s production continue to drop now that he got paid?”
How, exactly is that a ‘critical question?’ How can that be answered, except by looking at his production three years down the road? What, exactly would you expect BSmith or Gardenhire to say to such a question? “No.”? “Yes.”? Would such an answer tell you anything? Sheesh.
“Are they seriously going to continue batting Mauer No. 3?”
Well, at least that’s a legitimate question, with a possible answer. Although obsessing about whether someone bats 2nd or 3rd is, well, it’s bogus, to use your word. The difference is a handful of ABs over the course of the year. Nothing more, nothing less. Batting second, batting third, batting ninth…the object is to get on base and/or hit the ball hard. End of story. You act like the season hangs in the balance of where Gardy puts Mauer in the lineup. If it’s batting ninth, with clearly worse hitters above him, that’s a problem. 2nd or 3rd? Sheesh!
“Are they seriouly looking at Scott Baker as their ace?”
Ok, so they say “Yes, he’s our ace.” What impact does that have on the W/L record? Or they say, “No, he’s not our ace.” Does that somehow change the season? Do we win more games depending on who they consider their “ace?” Do we make trades, acquisitions, roster moves, etc based on how is the “ace?” Sheesh.
I will grant you your last ‘critical question’ is at least interesting. But, you know, I’d have to say every single writer, blogger, and us wannabe’s have already spent about 6000 words each this winter speculating on just that.
hey …… looking at the boxscore the twins had 5 hits today all singles …. wonder how many of those were actually hit out of the infield - LaVelle from reading all your posts I would have thought they would have had about 25 hits and about a dozen HRs the way they crush the ball in BP according to you … what HAPPENED ??? - Little Joe obviously didn’t hit your windshield , as if that was really something you had to be worried about
ROB NEYER just gave the Twins a reason to win on ESPN insider! He rips the Twins front office.
The tone of the posts this week have been so amicable until today.Don’t get so angry about today’s loss,it was just a exhibition game after all.
“My least favorite 2008 Denard Span quote:

I couldn’t agree more. I hear good things about Gomez, but speaking as a former strength and conditioning coach at 2 major colleges, I’m here to tell you his running mechanics are HORRIBLE. But I had a kid at D-1 once who ran like the wind (if the wind had bad running mechanics and a poor attitude) and he went in the 13th round so what do I know.
Of the 3, I was hoping we’d trade Span, send Gomez to AAA to season up some, and put Pridie out there to see what he could do. My 2 cents. But definitely definitely not a Span fan and never was.
If Gomez has bad running mechanics, but is the fastest player in the organization, maybe everyone else in the Twins organization should be taught Gomez’s running mechanics.
Jason’s back. …Yay?
when I say it is an expectation, I mean that if you say something stupid, expect people to call you out.
Fair enough.
——
And yeesh. Before we get into the usual cycle of hate and animosity towards one another here in Twins Territory…can we pause for a moment and just realize one thing?
Baseball season is almost here!
He he he he he yea… He he he that was cool
Well LaVelle, did your rental survive?
