The Fort Myers Juggernaut Report
Posted on June 3rd, 2008 – 9:36 PMBy La Velle
The Fort Myers Miracle improved to 39-19 on Tuesday with a 5-0 win against Dunedin. Jeff Manship became just the second pitcher in the entire organization to pitch a complete game shutout, as he gave up four hits and walked one while fanning five of nine innings. Time of game:Â 1 hour, 56 minutes.
Third baseman Danny Valencia went 3 for 3 with a a double and 3 runs scored. Left fielder Juan Portes was 2 for 4 with a homer.
The Twins are going to have to make room at Class AA New Britain for some of these guys after the Florida State League All-Star Game. Manship, Valencia, second baseman Brian Dinkleman, closer Robert Delaney and set up man Anthony Slama have sick numbers. So does outfielder Rene Tosoni, but he’s on the DL.
This is one of the best Fort Myers teams since I’ve been on the beat. I don’t remember so many players having strong seasons at once.
The pitching staff is sick, with Manship, Tyler Robertson, Cole DeVries, Alex Burnett and Deolis Guerra.Â
And Fort Myers can reload with outfielder Ben Revere, second baseman Steven Singleton and righthander Santos Arias from Beloit. Â
