If, and that's a huge if, Span plays well it will give Cuddy the oportunity to fully heal his hurting fingers, hands, etc. The Twins have needed him to hurry back before, but maybe not now. I'd say more than a few games of Span will determine. Just because you smoke AAA doesn't mean you won't hit .200 in the majors. Cuddyer has just had bad luck this year. You try dislocating a finger and then hold a bat and try to hit a 92 mph fast ball or a major league breaking ball. Not an excuse, Cuddyer just needs to get back to 100% and he'll be good for us down the stretch.

Too bad the Twins couldn't trade Gardenhire, Cuddyer, and Punto for a solid relief pitcher.

Nobody in the world can play the Baggie and RF corner like Cuddy, that hurt us when Span let the ball skid past him off the side wall on Mon.

Looks like Punto has three new mates for a new version of the Pirhanas. Punto/Span/Gomez/Casilla -- probably 4 of the top 10 fastest guys in the AL.

The Twins are shocking all the people (including myself) who insisted that this would be a rebuilding year. Baseball is a funny game. Sometimes things work out better than you think and vice versa. I say leave Span in RF or swap with Young in LF & let Young really get comfortable. Let Cuddyer take a lot of turns at DH -- he's declined as a hitter since '06. But Cuddy's a Gardenhire favorite, he'll be back in RF after the All-Star break. But his job won't be as secure.

I think the Twins will find out that Denard Span is a much better all around player than Cuddyer. He is faster in the outfield, can steal bases more readily, hits left handed, and hits for a higher batting average. With Span in the lineup with all the rest of the Twins speed, they are the fastest team in all of baseball. The team is better with Span in right field which will translate into more wins for the team.
