X-Rays on Slowey’s right wrist are negative

Twins righthander Kevin Slowey left Thursday’s game after being hit on the right wrist by a line drive off the bat of Chicago’s Juan Uribe.
The Twins have announced that Slowey has a right wrist contusion, and he’s on his way to HCMC for X-Rays. Update: The X-Rays were negative. We’ll have more for you after this crazy, heart-attack inducing game is over.
Slowey left Thursday’s game after being hit on the right wrist by a line drive off the bat of Chicago’s Juan Uribe with two outs and the bases loaded in the fourth inning.
The ball deflected toward the third base line, but Slowey tracked down the ball and threw wildly to first, and the ball skipped toward the White Sox bullpen.
Ken Griffey, Jr. scored from third, Alexei Ramirez scored from second and A.J. Pierzynski scored all the way from first as Slowey walked back toward the mound with his right arm dangling from the side.
Twins trainer Dave Pruemmer rushed out to help Slowey while manager Ron Gardenhire walked out and signaled to the bullpen for righthander Matt Guerrier.
This could be a huge blow to the Twins if Slowey needs a week or so to recover. I was told before the game that Slowey would get the ball Tuesday if a one-game playoff at Chicago was necessary. That, of course, is in doubt now.

not good
There was a huge red bulge on his arm where the ball hit. Man that had to hurt…
anyone think that the twins will come back?
WE got this!
We really need to win this game…
I feel magic in the air, and I’m about to see it in just a few minutes
Bottom of the 10th runner on 1st and Gomez is up…..
Come on, Span…let’s get this done.
Hey Alexi hit a single and Punto scores and we win! Yeeeeeeeeee Haaaaaaaaaaa!

Okay, so it was Alexei. It’s all good. Now, let’s take care of KC.
We need to sweep KC and hope the Sox lose a game against CLE.
Well, its official. Rick Riz announced a half hour ago on the Mariner broadcast that the ChiSox have beaten the Twin. Game over.
And why do I listen?
Well apparently Rick Riz was wrong, huh?
Glad Slowey’s x-ray is negative, but I have to think he’ll miss at least one start even if it’s just a bruise (”contusion”) … it’s his PITCHING hand. Who’s going to pitch Tues if we’re in a one-game playoff (or “the playoffs”)? No way will we - or should we - pitch Liriano on short rest. Guess that means Blackburn. I don’t like that scenario.
Tonight the Triplets joined the M&M Boys. Time to step up Starters. Let’s win a Championship!
We don’t need to worry about who takes the ball. We need to win out and then if Chicago doesn’t win out and beat Detroit it doesn’t matter who would start.
You have to assume it will be Blackburn if they need a playoff game, but with the off day Monday, there is at least a chance Slowey could give it a go.
A little off topic - but check out this picture my wife found of a White Sox on field celebration. Really makes me glad it is the Twins celebrating right now!
“Guess that means Blackburn. I don’t like that scenario.”
You’re a man after my heart, LaTroy. Been thinking about this stuff for a few days now. And Twins management better be planning right now for Tuesday.
If Liriano only goes 5 or 6 with like a 9-2 lead tomorrow, they’d better yank him and ice him down quick.
And making matters worse, the high in Chicago Tuesday will be 60. Would they go with Humber? Not really.
Has to be Liriano, with Humber/Boof as backup.
God I wish Guradado was doing as good as he was before joining the Twins.
Doin’ it out loud, MAMA Hof!!! Thanks!!!!
And you know, Ozzie has bad breath too. I know, cuz I posted it last night.
Slowey wouldn’t have to pitch again until like Oct 12th.
LEN3: re Freddy Garcia, isn’t he related to Ozzie? I do believe there is a family relationship there, by marriage, not directly by bloodline. Too bad Galarraga pitched tonight, doubt the Tigers would be willing to pitch him on 3 days rest. He kills just about everybody else in the league. Only the Twins win against him.
Sorry, it’s MAMA HOF.
Your fault…….you made me laugh too much.
Ozzie makes me laugh too much! He can entertain, we can win.
Beisbol, Galarraga pitched this afternoon. He’d have 3-1/2 days rest on Monday? (What time’s the game?)
Leland has Garcia/Galarraga till his BP on Monday. I like, I like….!!!
And a poster said that Lee would definitely go if it’s a meaningful game on Sunday vs the palehose.
Aren’t we a little more worried who is pitching on Sat. for the Twins than who would be pitching for the Tigers on Monday? Remember what the Royals did to the Tigers 2 years ago on the last weekend. If the Twins win, the AJ Bleach Hair Sox will find a way to lose.
that wasn’t Dave Primer that came out to check on Kevin. It was the Head Trainer, Rick McWane. Get your facts straight.
Slowey wouldn’t have to pitch again until like Oct 12th.
How do you figure Romer?
The 2nd round of the postseason would be in progress by the 12th.
You do know that the playoffs start on 10/1 don’t you.
Couldn’t Liriano throw on Tuesday if they needed to play the one game playoff? He’d be on 3 days rest but that would be better than a fully rested Blackburn or even a fully rested Slowey at this point.
