Don't give up Span at any cost!! Waaayyy to valuable to this team and lineup. What is the latest on the possibility of landing Hardy from the Brewers?

Why fix what isn't broken? If we got 91 RBI out of the 3B position, why change it for an aging 1-year guy? And especially why bring in yet another strikeout artist (Gomez being the first) who has "shaky defense" to play the hot corner? We should make an effort to get JJ Hardy and then stand pat the rest of the off-season.

Grant,

Orlando Hudson plays a crappy second base and wants $10MM or more per season. Not worth it.

Blalock is so broken down that he can't even play third. He hasn't been healthy since 2005, and he hasn't been GOOD since 2003.

Garrett Atkins can't hit away from Coors Field. He's also a poor defender.

If we signed Punto, Gardy would start him. No matter what. Some way, somehow, Punto would start.

We'd have terrible defense with overpaid players and underwhelming production, most likely.

How about this: Twins sign Orlando Hudson from D-Backs, move Alexi to SS.
Middle infield problem solved. Trade with TX for Hank Blaylock or CO Garrett Atkins for 3B. Power hitters at the corners. Sign Punto as an utility man. Versatility in the infield. Now your infield would ave .280 - .285 1st to 3rd, with power at 1st and 3rd, plus good defense.

Don't even bother with DeRosa; he's only hit as well as he has because he's in the Cubs powerful lineup. But he's nothing special.

Kouzmanoff, on the other hand, could be a mainstay at 3B for the Twins for several years. That would be fantastic.
