I like Punto. He's willing to go all out for the play in the infield. We need someone with that spark. I think he makes a great backup, though. Rotate him in and out, giving people breaks.

I still miss Bartlett at shortstop. I really liked him, and I haven't been terribly impressed with Delmon Young. I'm excited for Casilla to return to the infield. I'd like to see more from Buscher. I think he's got more talent than we've seen from him yet, but maybe I'm just too hopeful.

We really could use a 3rd baseman who can hit, and Beltre would be great, but I HIGHLY doubt that the club would ever split up the lineup of mauer at 3 and Morneau at 4 like several people have suggested.

I think we have plenty of talent that can get the job done in the infield. With Neshek out for another year, we desperately need some help in innings 7 and 8. Guerrier can only pitch so many games, and even he isn't phenomenal.

Great news!! Congrats to Nick and the twins. I know I'll enjoy watching him again. He makes plays that are unreal. They haven't traded away any of the young core yet, which works for me.
HAVE FUN !!! GO TWINS !!!

Wouldn't give up much for DeRosa either. Could be a one year wonder.

If Punto were to ever read these blogs, his season would be *REALLY* doomed.

Like him as a backup. 100 games? Fine. 130+ No way.

Also, the price tag was a little high...

I really would like to know what other offers he was getting...

BS, this DOES NOT cut it. I would think that you'd have to realize that this can't be it. You have GOT to add a power bat... at least one.

I would sign Dunn in a heartbeat.

I would sign Bonds in a heartbeat.

I would sign Ibanez in a heartbeat...unfortunatly he's a lefty outfielder...no wait. I don't care if he's a lefty. Power is power. I'd find a way to get him in the lineup.

I'd look at Burrell, but use caution.

Give up one of our MANY starters to attempt to get Hardy.

Would've signed Blake.

Still like Wiggy, but would the Twins do it?

Like Milton Bradly.

Would attempt to acquire Huff, you know, at least see what it would take.

I didn't intend to go on like this, but I guess there's still talent to be had out there. Will the Twins do anything? Probably not...

This team should have won 10-15 more games if LNP wouldn't have batted 2nd. Losses by Manager and Stiffs signed by from office...Hey hey a new acronym

SSBFO

Stiffs signed by Front Office

I can hear 1500 walking into church thsi summer at 11am...Well, Nicky is battling right now and not seeing the ball very well...I will play him everyday and see how he comes around" He will battle, he has such grit and is such a battler, I have a feelin' he will only ground out to 2nd 8 times over the weekend.

SSBFO

Why is this even news? this bites even being mentioned

As I sad last summer every day...

Imagine this

2 on, 2 out and LNP steps up to the plate in 9th..why I don't know....game over

Name BA OBP SLG OPS Field% at SS
Punto .252 .319 .332 .651 .977
Gagne .254 .302 .382 .684 .972
Mears .258 .299 .374 .673 .965
Guzman .270 .307 .386 .693 .971
Bartlett.276 .337 .362 .699 .967
Harris .269 .330 .408 .738 .970

I can say without a doubt that Nick Punto is the worst hitting starting shortstop we have had in the last 15 years (minus Juan Castro). Even Pat Mears was a better hitter than Nick Punto...I would rather have Brendan Harris at short over Nick Punto. Harris has a career .738 OPS while Nick's is .651 Nick may have the edge in fielding (.977 to .970) but that works out to be 3 more errors in 500 chances...I would take the extra hitting with 3 more errors anyday and I would challenge anyone to come up with a better argument for starting Punto over Harris at short.
