It hasn't been mentioned here yet, but

DeRosa was traded to the Indians

http://www.usatoday.com/sports/baseball/2008-12-31-indians-cubs-trade_N.htm

3 mediocre to slightly above average pitching prospects.

So there's another option DEAD.

Thrylos--
I usually think the answer is no. However, in any organization, decisions an be made or unmade at many levels. I'm guessing that the Twins have people looking at the numbers these ways, but it seems clear that those number crunchers don't have the biggest influence.

The Twins also seem to value internal options strongly over external options. There is certainly something to be said for that; Minnesota nice and a team of hired mercenaries don't fit together that well. Staying loyal to the players (even the mediocre ones) who have come up through the organization does.

Bill Smith seems to have made a departure from his predecessor, making bold moves to go for a big player like Delmon Young. But the philosophy of filling a roster with above average players in their pre-arb years seems to be pretty consistent from the previous GM to the current GM.

That makes sense. Even if someone pitches 10-20 innings more or less the WAR will change only by small decimals. It's more of an art than a science but it is an analysis that needs to be done at several intervals by every front office... and here is the multi-million dollar question:

do you think that the Twins' front office, manager and coaching stuff think this way?

Thrylos--
I used 85% for all of the players. For the pitchers, I used the following IP:

Baker 180
Liriano 160
Slowey 170
Blackburn 170
Perkins 130
Bonser/Humber 100

I also specifically used marcel because it had lower projections. The Twins hitters overachieved in 2008 (well-documented RISP, plus most of them had better BABIP than expected), so even if some younger players improve, there will be some regression.
