Just a quick note as I work on a project, do my taxes and start packing for spring training - I can’t believe I’ll be out of here a week from tomorrow!!!

It’s been interesting to watch the first month of programming on the MLB Network -that’s channel 213 on your DirecTV box. While I’m already bored with, `Red Sox Memories.’ and can’t get wound up over World Series highlights from 2005, there’s a lot to like.

The studio shows haven’t been bad. Michael Cuddyer was in studio to show how he fields balls hit off the wall, Joe Mauer was interviewed from TwinsFest and it’s great to see Harold Reynolds back on a set.

But I just looked ahead to programming this afternoon and really got fired up.

They are showing the Caribbean Series - LIVE! And the first game is Venezuela vs. the Dominican Republic, so there’s a chance Twins fans can check out Matt Tolbert in action. He had a big game on Saturday to help Aragua reach the series. First pitch is at 4 p.m. today.

It’s great that MLBN is showing the series. What a way to transition into spring training!
