bop,
I guess that I focused on his Gibson take.
I probably minimized his Cuddyer rant, because we see so many Twins bashings here, that I have become non-responsive to them.

sane:

"Kent likes Gibson for being a team-first player.

Why is that a bad thing?"

Team players, like Gibson and Cuddyer, are good. As we can all (except Kent) understand, LaVelle was questioning Gibson's judgment, not his heart. And Kent was calling a player (Cuddyer) heartless, which puts him in a faraway cave of utter cluelessness. It was his Cudd-chewing that triggered my response.

Kent,

I disagree. It's one thing to be courageous. It's another thing to make a bad decision.

In my 15 years of covering ball, there have been numerous cases of players trying to be tough and pitch through injuries, and it's not the smartest thing. Liriano did it with his elbow in 2006. And, considering that forearm tighness can lead to elbow problems,Gibson was putting too much on the line by starting.

I'm not hating on Gibson. But I've seen this happen before. And it's usually young players who try to play hurt when they shouldn't.

Flight to Chicago is delayed. (Sigh)
